How is Wes Johnson looking?

You guys seeing a star, roleplayer, or bust from what you've seen on the floor so far this year? I'm sure it's all about potential, just asking where you extrapolate his career from what you've seen.

He doesn't have the mentality to be a star nor the ball-handling skills (although he can work on that). I see him being a nice starter, primarily shooting three's and defending well.

Put him next to Steve Nash, and he'll look like a borderline Allstar.
Put him next to Luke Ridnour, and he'll look like a borderline NBA player.

he's been playing like the coaches or somebody told him to shoot more, now he just fires away, contested or not. He has no idea what a good shot is, he just shoots. He's a good shooter and when his shots are open, he makes them, but he's definitely not good enough to make contested shots all day. He also isn't any threat at all to break you down and go by you off the dribble, and if he does put it on the floor, its usually to make a half-hearted attempt to create space which ends up in a slightly less fiercely contested, but still a contested jump shot.
Wait I'm not done yet: the NBA scouting report is probably to literally stand on the right side of his body and contest his shooting hand because even with a clear lane he still is no threat to take it to the rack because he has no body control to get by a big man help defender without a charge.

He looks like ****. You don't use the #4 pick on a spot up shooter.

He played great against Kobe.

He has the tools, but has only put them all together for a handful of great games. The rest of the time hes been average or non-existent.

I have him listed as a bust right now.

yeah he's not doing too well. Good shooter and okay man defender. Garbage everything else.

From a #4 overall pick you would expect that he steps up on the court. Wes Johnson just disappears in 4 out of 5 games. Sometimes I think we play 4 vs. 5 because Wes just doesn't do anything on offense.

Basically in his rookie year, Wes Johnson is having a season long sophomore slump.

i could understand if he was incredibly unconsistant as a rookie.
But Wes Johnson is just consistantly unimpressive.
Should've drafted Cousins over Johnson. I've been saying that pre-draft also. Kahn screwed it.

I'd still like to see him at his natural position (sf) in a regular system. I don't think he will ever be a star (just doesn't have that killer instinct) but he could be a quality starter at sf.

I like his look, but I feel as though he could possibly benefit from a change of hairstyles. Rocking those bangs would just go great with the shoes.

But you can't disagree with his conclusion.

Incomplete.
If he's ever as good as his better games consistently, he'll be great. Right now though, he's mostly unimpressive.

No...just no. We should have moved up and drafted Favors (at least he was valuable enough to trade for Deron) or Paul George or even Greg Monroe, but not Cousins. Cousins is a headcase whose production has been remarkably similar to Darko's this year. Kahn was absolutely right in not taking him.
Cousins - 14.1 points, 12.6 FGA (1.12 PPS), .424 FG%, .475 TS%, 8.6 reb, 3.3 TOs (18.2 TO%), 93 ORtg, 105 DRtg
Darko - 8.9 points, 8.5 FGA (1.05 PPS), .470 FG%, .483 TS%, 5.3 reb, 2.2 TOs (19.3 TO%), 91 ORtg, 107 DRtg
I, for one, would not want to use a top 5 pick on a slightly better Darko who has been known to attack teammates for not passing him the ball.

other than Wall, nobody has really stuck out as a "should've drafted _____ instead"
terrible draft so far

ehhh.
Darko's been in the league for years. He's pretty much a finished product. Cousins will likely see improvements the next 2-3 years.
