Singular move(s)

Would this be possible?

'11 MN 1st + Utah 1st + Flynn for Ellis
Johnson, Pekovic, Webster for Iggy
Rubio + Tolliver for Gortat

For a new line-up of:

Ellis/Ridnour
Iggy/Ellis
Beasley/Iggy
Love/Randolph
Gortat/Milicic

Thoughts?

No way on the Rubio + Tolly for Gortat. I do like Gortat but I don't see us giving up Rubio + Tolly for him.

With that I don't see us going after Ellis with Rubio possibly coming.

I could see us trying to work out something for Iggy though.

Lots of problems I see here.

1. You can't have three high usage players like that and expect to have good chemistry.
2. Seriously no to the Rubio/Gortat deal.
3. 76ers fans overwhelmingly turn down your Iggy deal.

Pretty much.

You can pursue Ellis or Iggy, but not both. It's also important to know what the draft pick actually will be because I think we could get a better package than Ellis or Iguodala if we're trading the number one pick.

Iggy & Ellis both get paid over 10 mil already. Plus we have to get Love on a new contract around that same money. Also the other reasons already stated would make this scenario highly unlikely.

This would assume we don't have the first overall pick (Irving). I'm really starting to sour on Rubio, even if he does come over this offseason. Him plus Tolliver (3rd PF/C) isn't a terrible price to pay for a starting C. Ellis wouldn't be a conventional PG, but with Iggy and Beasley there are enough ball-handlers. Ellis and Beasley would be the two higher usage guys with Love and Iggy acting more as glue and secondary options and Gortat/Milicic would be free to focus on positioning/defense.

I am hoping something Kahn would pursue Iggy, he seems like an ideal fit. The other two I just really like as players. I can totally see Philly turning this down and it would be hard to make fair deals for all three players while keeping a solid roster intact.

Can we please stop dreaming about fantasies of getting a player of Iggy/Ellis' calilbur? It's not going to happen, especially with this franchise.

I had no idea that players of Ellis and Iggy’s capability were untouchable. Not that I would consider it, but I think we have plenty of assets to acquire both of these very good (but not great) players.

Its not like Iggy or Ellis are LeBron/Kobe-caliber players. I wouldn't say there are openly being shopped are highly "gettable" but they certainly aren't untouchable.

they seem like appropriate targets to me, I didnt see either one in the all star game

Iguodala is the leader of a .500 team and Ellis is in positional no-man's land as he can't guard a SG on defense nor run an offense like a true point on offense

these are the types of guys we need to go after: big salary players that mediocre teams finally get tired of and cast off because they don't lead them to any meaningful team success

and knowing this, I'd like both please

Agreed. These are exactly the quality of players that we can hope for. Both players were rumored to be on the block earlier in the season.

by the way I like the general idea of the trade, but I want Iguodala @ SF; I'd move Beasley and ask for a pick swap from GS

I do think now is the time for that singular move. But what that is, I'm not sure at the moment. Personally, I'd try to see what we can get for a package of Beasley and Flynn (+ Randolph and/or our 1st?).

A lot depends on the CBA, they might be able to pick up an Iggy/Ellis/Smith/Odom type guy on the cheap if a hard cap forces those teams to ditch some of their higher paid guys.

But I'm at the point where this whole "singular move" thing seems like a load of crap. There's so many factors weighing this team down that it would be impossible for 1 guy to fix them all. They need to get a starting point guard, they need to get someone who coaches defence, they need to get some decent centres, some veterans and they might as well get a new GM while they're at it. Is any of the guys already mentioned in this thread going to fix that?

Honestly, I think the closest thing to a singular move would be somehow being able to draft Irving. Other than that this team will continue to be screwed.
