Any interest in Monta Ellis?
Hey, all. Warriors fan here (obviously). Just trying to gauge the interest of T-Wolves fans in Monta Ellis. Some of us in Warriors land have thought that we might be able to trade him to you guys for the #2 pick.
Is there any interest whatsoever in that deal? If not, why not? Also, what other trades would you guys be advocating for either with us or other teams?
Looking forward to your replies. thanks,
-evan

Re: Any interest in Monta Ellis?
Maybe it's just me but I would prefer to deal the #2 pick for a C to pair with Kevin Love.
Bogut comes to mind.
Not to mention that a Rubio, Ellis, Beasley, Love, whoever team would be terrible defensively.

Re: Any interest in Monta Ellis?
Really? I think the #2 is pretty darn expensive for Ellis. Unless maaaybe the Wolves are sending some poor contracts along (if they're dumping Flynn and Darko/Pekovic).
I would like him next to Rubio, if we also were able to trade Beasley for Iggy (and probably add a defensive center as well, how that happens after adding all this other salary, I don't know) so that you could cover up Ellis's poor defense, but he would give you that A-level scorer, while Rubio and Iggy could focus on defense and playmaking. But putting him next to Beasley would worry me a lot.

OJ Mayo is one of the best defenders in the league, hes a two way player and hes a great passer and playmaker.

If Ellis is in, Beasley has to go. IMO.

Yuck, no. Don't need a chucker who plays no defence.

What if it was Ellis for #2+one of Darko/Flynn/Beasley? Which one of those would you want to dump?

You don't "dump" Beasley. He's got major skills and the possibility to take it to a really high level in the next couple of years.

The Wolves aren't going to offer that.

Flynn would be the dumper.
I'd prefer Iggy because of his defense but I wouldn't be opposed to Monta. I'd try for one of Iggy/Bogut/Gasol/Bynum first.

Re: Any interest in Monta Ellis?
Statistically Monta and Beasley are pretty close. I just don't see the point unless we are also able to package Beasley in a separate deal and get a good center.
I just don't think Monta offers anything without a lot of reshuffling.

Yup. Considering the limited assets and cap space, I'd probably try to get the best center possible, and then go for someone like Mayo who has a smaller contract and is available for something like a mid-first and a decent big. I don't know if I see Kahn/Taylor adding 3 (or heck, even two) large contracts.

I to would prefer Iggy. With Ellis, Love and Beas......we have no defense. I also think that #2 along with Flynn would be a little to much to give up.
If a deal is done, i think we should either swap pick #20 for GS pick #11.
#2, #20 and Flynn for:
#11 and Ellis

Re: Any interest in Monta Ellis?
Monta may be a better player than Iguodala, but the team needs defense, so small Monta is just not a very good fit.
I think Monta needs to stay in GSW. He's got to be your best chance for selling tickets. It's probably a "more valuable to you" type of situation.
I don't think either are worth the 2.

Re: Any interest in Monta Ellis?
Shrink, as a team we are in a situation where we are debating the best use of the number 2 because neither Kanter or Williams are good fits here. Ellis fills a need that they simply do not. Ellis has grater value to us than any player we might pick at 2, so he is worth more to us than the pick.
EDIT/ADD: Monta might not be a great defender, but he is a very good SG. That would be nice.
There might be a better trade opportunity, but probably not many. If you want to argue that he isn't worth trading the pick for, you need to argue specifically who we can get with or for the pick that is worth more to us. The pick has no inherent value of its own.

I did mention Iguodala, right?
While I think Iggy isn't worth the 2 either, I think the Wolves would be a better off with a deal of the 2 for Iggy + value than to deal for Monta.

Re: Any interest in Monta Ellis?
No interest at all in Ellis for me, especially with the #2 pick. An undersized, ball dominant 2-guard is just not a good fit with Rubio or Beasley.
Furthermore, Per 36:
Beasley - 21.4 points (19.0 FGA), 6.2 rebounds, 2.4 assists (3.0 TOs)
Ellis - 21.5 points (18.0 FGA), 3.1 rebounds, 5.0 assists (2.8 TOs)
We already have an inefficient volume scoring wing who doesn't play much D, and a lot of fans want to dump him.
