Chad Ford: "Biyombo could go as high as 2. Minnesota likes him a lot."

They brought up his fit alongside Kevin Love. "You don't want to put another Kevin Love next to Kevin Love."

They wondered if he can be a difference maker for a team on the defensive side. The panel seemed split about it. Has no offensive game other than pck'n'roll, go under the hoop and dunk it. They brought up that Ben Wallace has no offense to speak of either, but is still a difference maker. "Can Biyombo be that guy?" Once again, they were split.

Sounds a lot like Dwight Howard when he entered the league (at pretty much the exact same age as Biyombo). :dontknow:

Was Dwight more accomplished coming into the draft though?

He was a high school stud, so I don't know about more accomplished (compared to a guy getting minutes on a play off team in a professional league), but he was definitely more known/ less risk.

Drafting Biyombo with our lottery pick is soooo dumb that it falls into the category of sucker move.

Hell, why not just trade for Thabeet (who had a much better resume than Bismack) if you want a guy with all the physical tools? At least then you don't have to waste #2 pick and you know ahead of time that he doesn't know how to play basketball.

Ben Wallace went undrafted for good reason. Most guys like him amount to diddly squat.

But then again this is the front office that thinks it can turn all the head cases in the league into big time players so they probably think they can turn lead into gold with this guy as well...

Can't wait for the official measurements tomorrow.

Does anyone know if Irving and Williams will be there this time?

Not with our #2.

As I've said before, would rather trade UP to get him.

Not sure if he'd fall past DET though.

Howard played like that once he got in the NBA, but I believe he was considered to be decently skilled as a prospect. Much more so than Biyombo.

That is what I thought...to me it seemed like Biyombo came out of nowhere.

Thabeet doesn't have "all the physical tools." In fact, outside of being really tall, he really doesn't have any of the physical tools. He's slow, he doesn't jump very well, and he probably has the worst balance of any big man in the league.

He had a nice triple-double against USA - that's when he started getting serious looks.

Comparing Biyombo and Thabeet is so absurd I don't know where to begin.

+ 1

There's also the difference in intangibles. Biyombo tries to take after Kevin Garnett as a fierce competitor and leader, while Thabeet doesn't seem to like basketball very much.

Yeah I'm guessing Kahn is going to pull the plug on Kurt very shortly, possibly today...

Williams said over and over that he is a SF I guess, I'm still not so sure about that. He seems way too "thick" to be a sf and guard people on the perimeter. Beasley is almost too big, and he seems bigger then him.
