I know that it depends a lot on whether or not Rubio will come over, but Devin Harris instantly becomes your second best player.

If the Wolves are serious about adding a solid Veteran, this would be a good place to start. When Rubio arrives, he will get burned by the quicker PGs in the NBA. Having a vet like Harris would help him alot. Not sure what the correct value is for Harris, but I like him more than adding Mayo - because of Harris' Def ability.

If I could find a 3rd team to take on Harris, I might consider it. Otherwise, I'm not a huge fan of his and thus this deal isn't quite what I'm looking for.

What are the restrictions on the Warriors' pick?

2012 first round draft pick to Utah
Golden State's own 2012 1st round pick to Utah via New Jersey (top 7 protected in the 2012 Draft, top 7 protected in 2013, and top 6 protected in the 2014 Draft).

I'm a Devin fan, and even I have to admit he doesn't carry much trade value in the current PG-packed NBA. And with Rubio, Flynn, and Ridnour on the roster, it seems like MIN isn't a smart fit anyway.
If you're looking for the #2, you probably need to use either Favors or the #3, not pile up assets who are worth a lot less.

Actually, Devin Harris would open things up quite a bit for Love and Beasely. Teams would have to decide which of those three to double team, which would create better opportunities for the other two.
I don't know that this move makes Minnesota a playoff team, but it does drastically upgrade the PG position at a time when Love and Beasely are coming into their prime.

What?
If the Jazz decide to trade Devin Harris, I think you will find otherwise. Teams with big holes at PG like the Timberwolves are generally willing to pay for this important position. The only reason that the Jazz gave up Deron Williams is that they felt Devin Harris was a reasonable replacement considering the other asstes they were getting.

So much fail in virtually every sentence here.
1. Devin was on the block in NJN for a while -- did you see a line of suitors?
2. Right now, PG is easily the heaviest-filled position in the NBA, and the last PG-laden draft, as well as three PG's in the top six picks in this one, have severely limited the buyers.
3. Kahn has built his rep around Rubio.
4. If you think the "only reason" UTA traded Deron was because Devin was a reasonable replacement, you're either lying or pretty blind.

Doesn't the way Utah finished the season last year demonstrate Harris' value? I realize he isn't Deron Williams, but you put him on a Utah team along with Favors and they absolutely fell apart. I don't think the line to acquire Harris is very long. He's not terrible, but he's also not a franchise PG IMO.

I am a big Devin Harris fan, I think him and Rubio would be nice compliments because of Harris' ability to guard SGs( at least he did in Dallas), but I'm not going to give up the #2 for him and 2 late lotto picks.

None of those guys should be seeing any double teams.

A 17 win team needs more than average-at-best Devin Harris to become a playoff team.
I have trouble seeing that we would've won more than 22 games this year even if he was on our team.

But does drafting Derrick Williams when you already have a logjam at that position make you that much better anyway? You get Devin Harris who was placed in a horrible situation in New Jersey and played damn good with the Jazz after D-Will. Plus you get #12 and a Warriors pick that could be special. Do I think Devin Harris makes you an instant playoff team? No. But neither does nobody you would have taken at #2. You get Devin Harris and assets to make another move rather than drafting Williams or Kanter and trying to find a way to make it work.

Everything I read has Utah taking B Knight at #3 to play PG. D Harris would be kept around to mentor Knight.

This is like saying, "You came back from France with $1000 euros, and since the euros won't help you, why not trade them to us for $200?"
Even if Williams doesn't fit (and I'm not sure I believe that anyway), we could certainly get a better offer for Euro/Williams elsewhere.
Worse, you're telling us how good it would be to convert our Euro's into Yen. When Rubio comes over we will have three PG's on the roster. Do we need Devin Harris? And Kahn wants to win now, so you offer a big trade down and a future pick?
