What is the WORST thing Kahn&Co. could do?

Post#1 » by Breakdown777 » Mon Jun 6, 2011 3:48 am

It seems like we all have our opinions of what is best this off season. We have plenty of assets, and plenty of needs. I personally feel it's going to be pretty hard to screw up having the #2 in the draft, and a capable front office should be able to turn it into a positive (even if we have roster/fit concerns).

The point of this thread is to discuss rumors or ideas that would be horrible for the team. This might be a bit premature as Kanter is gaining ground while Irving is losing some, but I'm interested in knowing what you would definitely NOT do in regards to the draft and off season.

Trade no. 2 pick and Rubio to Utah for Al Jefferson.
Trade Beasley and Pekovic to Clippers for Ryan Gomes.
Trade Johnson and Anthony Randolph to Mavs for Corey Brewer and Cardinal.
Trade Webster and Telfair to Cavs for Hollins and Sessions.
Trade no. 20 pick to Hawks for Wilkens.
Dump Hayward and Tollivar to free agency.
Pick up Blount, Jawai, and Pavlovic from free-agency.

2011-2012 line-ups:

Flynn/Sessions
Brewer/Ellington/Wilkens
Gomes/Cardinal/Pavlovic
Jefferson/Love
Milicic/Hollins/Blount

Taking Biyombo at #2, or even...not taking Kanter.

I'd take Sessions back in a heartbeat. He got hosed by Rambis/the system. That trade has me drooling, I'd love to get rid of both of them, or is Bassy a FA even?

Beat me to it (the Biyombo part). I'm a Kanter fan, but I wouldn't draft him @ #2.

Only thing I can think of right now would be taking anyone besides Kanter or Williams at #2. I'll probably think of more things when different rumors are spread around regarding us.

Worst thing Kahn and Co. could do would be to continue to get younger. I would be okay with us staying at 2, but I would expect that we would be moving other young players to get closer to the playoffs.

OR

Trading Michael Beasley for less than he is worth. That guy has some serious skills.

- Taking at #2 any player who isn't Irving, Williams or Knight

- Motiejunas or Vesely at #20

- Biyombo at first round

Vesely won't even remotely fall to 20...and if he did I would slap Kahn if he didn't draft him.

Why the heck would we want Knight?

- If we stay at #2, not taking Kanter or Williams.
- If we trade out, taking on a bad contract while moving back.
- Not trading Flynn.

The best thing of internet is that the things remain recorded.

First : I'm not sure Irving > Knight. Second : Perhaps isn't a bad idea get Irving or Knight for play together to Rubio, and Third : I'm a Rubio fan but I have no fear to another good prospect PG.

I think he was trying to say that Knight was worth drafting at the #2 slot, not necessarily that we'd pick him. I like Knight, but I don't think he's better than Derrick Williams to draft him at 2.

Knight wouldn't be a bad fit for the Wolves though...he's more of a shooting guard anyway, which is something we are in short supply of.

I don't understand Knight as a top 5 pick. He shot 42 percent, he doesn't get to the free throw line and there are questions about his decision making and whether he's a true point guard. It seems like the only things to like is that he's fast and he hits big shots.

Adding another Spanish player for the sake of adding another Spanish player. I've read on the trade board that Minnesota should add a Spaniard because Rubio also happens to be Spanish.

Than they'll build a fort and they can tweet how much fun they are having...in Spanish

I only can see ONE spanish player playing for Minnesota, Fran Vazquez.

Marc wont move from Memphis, and Fernandez and Calderon are too many expensives and (IMO) useless for the team, especially if we pick Irving or Knight. In this scenario Flynn x Fran Vazquez + fills would be a cheap choice for a C/PF backup, and the Wolves could trade Peko and Darko together to get a good Center.

Also, Rubio doesn't care to play for a team without spaniards or a team with a veteran mentor PG. This are two urban legends raised from this forum.

Wake up, guy, I bet you 100 beers Nash don't play next year for Minnesota.
