Beasley for Jameer Nelson and Fran Vazquez?

Post#1 » by Skin » Thu Jun 9, 2011 7:25 pm

Hello,
I was just wondering if the Wolves drafted Derrick Williams, would a trade of Michael Beasley for Jameer Nelson and the rights to Fran Vazquez make sense?

Nelson would solidify your PG position by providing you with good veteran presence and someone who still has a lot to offer before his contract is over. He has 2 years left and would aleviate the risk of failure in case Rubio stumbles out of the gate. By the time his contract is up, Rubio should be in full bloom.

Fran Vazquez has made comments that he's more ready than ever to come to the NBA. His relationship with Rubio (since the 2 have been playing together) would be a benefit to both Rubio and Fran if they were to remain teammates.

Here's a clip of Rubio and Vazquez together...

It's a swindle for the Wolves. Nelson is 30 and Fran is a mistery.

No. We have no use for Jameer Nelson to ride the bench as a mentor when we have Ridnour now for half the price.

We've takjed with other Magic fans that have come through and asked about Fran Vazquez. I agree that he is more valuable to us than you, but his chance of the small-town boy coming here is still only slim, and he's not a great fit with the talent we have.

The standard offer I'd make is the #20 pick is you want value for another trade, or Anthony Tolliver is you want a cheap big vet with a good attitude to win-now. Beasley, Anthony Randolph, or other major assets is completely out of the question.

Nelson also has good 6th man type qualities as he can provide instant offense. I wouldn't say that Ridnour would make Nelson a useless bench warmer.

I appreciate your comments though.

Nothing on Magic's roster could net Beasley unless he's part of a package for Howard or the Magic decide to send an unprotected 1st every two years for the next 12 years.

Vasquez for #20 would be acceptable though.

Well, this wouldn't be the dumbest move the Wolves have ever made, so you can't really blame me for thinking your GM is incapable of doing this.

So your best argument is that the trade is so dumb that the Wolves incompetent GM would do it? Bravo.

this is your best argument? I don't think you are going to talk your way into support for a pretty obvious bad deal.

Your thread started out positive enough but now you've turned to bashing us?

Look, Kahn makes poor draft picks (for the most part) and debatable signings but his trades have been SPOT ON (depending on what you think of Darko, but the rest have been).

I don't see Kahn making this trade at all. Nelson does nothing for us and Fran may never come to the NBA. I agree with the rest. If you want #20 for Fran we can talk but lets leave Beasley and Nelson out of this.

What you just did is the equivalent of someone going to the Magic board, offering mediocrity for Dwight, then saying "Psshhed, he's going to leave you anyway, you should just take it" after getting negative feedback.

You realize this, don't you?

I like the idea of something around Redick/Vazquez for Beasley IF Vazquez is actually coming to the league. I just haven't seen any evidence to support that he is coming over.

No Nelson, no Calderon, not even any Nash for me, please. Rubio is going to play a lot, sink or swim. Ridnour is a capable 20 mpg backup. For the first time in several years (geez... since 04?) I think the PG plan makes sense.
