Dwane Casey is a candidate to take the head coaching spot for the raptors, and is obviously riding some good momentum being associated with Dallas' current run. I was wondering what you all thought of him from his time in minnesota. How was he as a coach for you? Any input is appreciated.

Never given a fair chance or shake here--the casualty of McHale's man-love for Randy Wittman.
Casey's getting a lot of love right now as the architect of Dallas' zone defense. I think he could be a good head coach, but beware of the hot candidate from a champion. In all sports at all levels, the roadside is littered with the corpses of assistants from championship teams who rose to the level of their incompetence.

People forget too easily that Casey struggled with rotations, plays out of time outs and ultimately lost the locker room.
Maybe he's different with a young team, but he's not exactly an ideal head coach.

He had some issues, but I think he would be solid choice for a lot of teams. It's always a gamble, but you could do worse.

I think rotations was the only thing he was bad with. But he also took a crap team and was 20-20 with them in the 8th spot. Team went 10-32 with Wittman. Guy also got Mark Blount and Ricky Davis to play good team basketball including Defense. Only half a season, but half a season more than anyone else.

wasn't he the coach for a year and a half and stunk it up his first year? that half season was his second here, and yes, Whit did take and tank out the rest of the season with that team, so Casey was obviously doing something right.

Haha saw this on ESPN's Rumor Central
Toronto's top 2
Lawrence Frank. If Toronto is looking for D, Frank would be a strong candidate.
Dwane Casey. This would be his first head coaching job.
ESPN is good at checking facts....or they don't believe coaching the Wolves counts.

Dwane Casey is a good candidate, but I think he benefits too much from his half season with us and how we fell off the table after he was fired. We did replace him with one of the worst coaches in NBA history.
