Minnesota Wolves fans, what is your take on Michael Beasley?

How good do you think he can be?

Do you like Beasley? (as a player)

Do you want him to be a part of the Wolves future?

Some quotes from other players on Michael Beasley

"Beasley should watch (Miami star) LeBron James(notes)," Artest said. "Beasley's actually a better shooter than LeBron, but the smarts are not there. He's talking so much trash instead of worrying about the game. He needs to become a winner." [...]

Artest said Beasley needs to learn another move on the court.

"He's so athletic and quick and strong," he said. "But eventually somebody's going to catch on to it."

"Offensively, I've been a big believer in him," Rivers said before his Celtics beat the Timberwolves 96-93 on Monday night. "I just think he can score. I said it two years ago: I think one day he may lead the league in scoring. He just knows how to score the ball. He has a Carmelo ability to score the ball."

Beasley scored 19 points, playing only 23 minutes because of foul trouble.

"He's a matchup problem every night," Rivers said. "He's tough for 3s [small forwards] to guard because of his size. He's too quick for 4s [power forwards]. And he can shoot. Obviously that's the key. He has quickness and a shot at that size. That makes him tough to guard."

“He’s a great talent,’’ Pierce said. “A lot of people really forgot about him. He’s having a sensational year, kind of under the radar. He came in as a highly touted offensive player. It’s really rare you see a guy with his size and strength to put the ball on the ground and shoot the way he does and get to the basket with his athleticism. He was a tough cover, especially in the midrange game.

Great Article from Sports Illustrated on Minnesota combo-forward Michael Beasley

NEW YORK -- It was the Timberwolves' first offensive possession of the game Monday and Michael Beasley didn't hesitate. He caught the pass from Luke Ridnour on the right elbow and saw that Danilo Gallinari was shading him to his right, daring him to drive with his off hand.

Force him right. That was the scouting report on Beasley, written in bold, blue marker on the white board in the Knicks' locker room before the game. Didn't work. With a quick first step, Beasley had Gallinari at his hip, his long braids grazing Gallinari's face as he elevated for an easy layup.

Meet Michael Beasley, version 2.0. This is not the same Beasley who flamed out after two seasons Miami. That Beasley frustrated teammates and coaches alike with his ability to dominate some stretches and completely disappear in others. That Beasley was seduced by the trappings of the NBA lifestyle -- a lifestyle that bottomed in August 2009, when he checked into rehab after a series of tweets that suggested Beasley was contemplating suicide.

This Beasley is different. His life is in order, he says. His game? That's definitely picked up. Through 19 games of his first season with Minnesota, Beasley is averaging 21.8 points on 47.7 percent shooting. As the centerpiece of the Wolves' triangle offense, Beasley has found a comfort level that eluded him in Miami.

"The triangle is a complex offense, but once you get it, it becomes second nature and it's pretty easy," Beasley said. "I haven't got it down pat yet, but so far, so good."

Minnesota has shown great faith in Beasley. The Wolves shifted him from power forward to small forward, where Beasley has been able to take advantage of smaller players who have trouble standing up to his 6-foot-10, 235-pound frame. Coach Kurt Rambis has given Beasley a permanent green light and encouraged him to be aggressive offensively.

"I didn't have as much freedom in Miami to shoot or dribble," Beasley said. "I was pretty much told to run the offense and get out of the way. Here, I don't want to say I can shoot anytime I want, but I have a large variety of shots. The ball comes to me a lot more. A lot of people haven't showed that same type of confidence. Coach believed in me for whatever reason. I'm not going to let him down."

Early on, Rambis didn't know what to expect from Beasley. He didn't come with a hefty price tag -- two second-round picks -- but Rambis was charged with rebuilding a young team that didn't need any distractions. And the reports he received on Beasley were mixed. But as the coach of a team that had fallen on hard times, he made it simple: You give us a shot and we'll give you one, too.

"We want players to judge us for us, not what has happened in other situations with coaches or teams," Rambis said. "Just come in and look at our situation and judge us for us and we'll judge you on what you do for us."

Beasley has become Minnesota's go-to scorer. He has led the Wolves in scoring a team-high 10 times. His three-point percentage has spiked from 27.5 percent last season to 41.5 percent. In games Beasley has scored 20-plus points, the Wolves are 4-6; when he goes for fewer than 20, they are 0-9.

He has emerged as a leader, too. Rambis calls Beasley's personality "exceptional" and says the 21-year-old "keeps the team together." In the first quarter against New York, Beasley barked at Amar'e Stoudemire from across the court after the Knicks' big man bumped Minnesota point guard Sebastian Telfair after the whistle.

"He loves to play," Rambis said. "He absolutely loves the game of basketball. You can see the potential in him."

Indeed, the Timberwolves believe they are just scratching the surface on Beasley's skills. Rambis believes that once Beasley settles into playing small forward, the advantages for him will be everywhere.

"He hasn't really exploited all the post-up opportunities playing against a smaller player," Rambis said. "He can do so many different things on different spots on the floor, and because he can put the ball on the floor, everything looks like an advantage to him."

As for Beasley, he says he has put Miami in his rearview mirror. He's not motivated by anger or the burning desire to show the Heat they made a mistake. He just wants to get back to being the player who was a McDonald's All-American in high school and a first team All-American at Kansas State. He just wants to play.

"I really don't care [about Miami]," he said. "I'm not out to prove anybody wrong. I just want to play basketball. I just want to win."

I think we got a STEAL in getting him from MIA and he shouldn't even be considered in trade rumors...especially for Derrick Williams...him at the 3, Rubio at the 1, and Love at the 4 puts us in a position to have a nice young team to build into the future...we got some nice young roll players as well...we just need to get a SOLID center and a SOLID 2 (preferably a veteran) and I think we got something...

He'll be an all-star, still kinda pissed Riley only got 2nd round picks for him though, hes easily worth a mid lotto pick.

I was hoping the Wolves trade the number 2 pick along with maybe Darko and Flynn to the Wizards for Javlee McGee, with their 6th pick along with fillers.

PG Rubio/Luke
SG Wesley/Burks
SF Beasley/Webster
PF Love/Randolph
C McGee/Pek

That rite there ^ is a solid young core and might be able to squeeze into the playoffs with a great head coach

I love Beasley. I think a lot of what is said in those quotes is accurate and fair. I believe that posters that propose to go in a different direction are doing so out of short-term frustration or inaccurate position/role labels.

He definitely did not have a superstar season, but he showed more than flashes that it's in him. He (like anybody who isn't a superstar) needs to get the hard work right. He needs to diversify his offensive attack to take advantage of his tools (excellent mid-long range shooting and good finishing shots, from dunks/layups to floaters) and seriously work on defense (I believe a lot of our trouble is on the team as a unit - communication and cohesion).

I really believe that he is critical to our offensive success - if Rubio pans out to an open floor distributor and high-end play-maker, we're going to need him as an iso threat in the half-court to keep things legit.

Michael Beasley was putting up all-star like numbers in the first half of the season.

Yeah Ron quote was jokes

He definitely did show flashes before he got injured in mid Jan-Feb with the sprained ankle like 4 consecutive times in different games.

November: 23.2PPG 5.9RPG 1.9APG 0.8BPG 1SPG 47FG% 41% from deep 33.7MPG

December: 22.9PPG 6.1RPG 1.9APG 1BPG 0.8SPG 47FG% 41from deep 36.7MPG

After the hot start Beasley got injured so it's not fair to criticize him

16PPG 4RPG 2APG 41FG% 33from deep: were his stats during the time he was injured from Jan-Feb-Mar

and yeah I agree on him needing to be more aggressive on attacking the basket get to the line more and increase your TS% 8-) .

I think he can be a star. He's got some maturing to do, like most of those articles and videos allude to, but I honestly don't think it stops him.

I think this summer could be really big for Beasley. He said he wants to be apart of the future here in Minnesota and according to Kahn, "he has never looked more forward to an off-season in his entire basketball career as he does this one to work and improve on his game." Of course that is just talk at this point so we'll have to wait and see but I'm really looking forward to see what he brings next year.

I think he is capable of being a star player in this league, but he still has holes in his game that need to be worked on before that can happen. He did show improvements last year but still needs to be consistent night in and night out.

He’s a really polarizing player right now, with some fans willing to trade him away for any veteran or center help we can get, and others penciling him in as our go-to scorer of the future. I see him as a guy who genuinely has potential to be the best guy, top scorer, and leader on a really good team, and seeing as that’s still the Wolves #1 need, I think it would be crazy to trade him for anything that doesn’t bring you the same potential in return. Obviously, he has a long ways to go, and if he doesn’t make a serious leap in that direction next year we’d all have good reason to doubt if he’s ever going to cash in on his talents.

I said this at the end of the season, but if I were Rambis during Beasley’s exit interview this year, I would have told him that we have two goals for you to adopt for next year: 1) Make an NBA All-Defensive Team, and 2) lead all non-centers in the league in free throws/game. Work all offseason to make those two goals a reality. Obviously he’s not going to get there, but he if put in the work toward those goals, and improved his ball-handling and passing a bit, I totally see him growing into the sort of player you can build your team around and contend in the playoffs for the next decade.

I loved Beasley coming out of college. He just knows how to get the ball in the basket. When the T-Wolves picked him up I was thrilled. I think with a little time, he's going to live up to his potential.

I like Derrick Williams, alot, but I wouldn't take him. Taking him without trading Beasley will only kick Beasley out the door in a year in my opinion.

Trading Beasley is also a bad idea if you ask me. I think he's worth more than teams would offer in terms of protential. The offer would really have to blow me away to want it.

Love Michael Beasley, would hate to see him dealt considering what he went through for this piece of crap team last year. I mean the guy played through injury after injury and we won 17 games. I just want him to get to at least be here for when we start coming up a little bit, especially if we're not getting great value back through any trade of him.

yeah i think he's a future all star...they're only words but i'm encouraged by his "biggest off season ever" quote. those are two great goals, i would also add to that maybe average something like 3/3.5 assists per game(baby steps).
