The ESPN says thread.

Post#1 » by Calinks » Wed Jun 22, 2011 10:21 pm

Everyday they got something new to say and I think it's amusing to hear what they come up with.

Today on Around the Horn.

Nearly unanimously they all said that Derrick Williams is the best player in the draft and the wolves need to take him

No more point guards

When talking about he Gasol and Nash trades they said "Why would they want to come to cold Minnesota!?"

I noticed that every time they talk about a Minnesota deal it's always from the perspective of the other teams/players. They rarely talk about what is best for the wolves. Like maybe the wolves wouldn't want Gasol when they got a young stud like Love or maybe a 36 year old PG isn't the best fit for a wolves team that that is still rebuilding.

The only problem with this thread is that you have to watch espn to participate in it.

I didn't realize TVs got channels other than ESPN during the summer.

I was watching ESPN First Take one morning. They had a special report & flashing bottom screen that said Rubio will not be coming to play for the Wolves this season. Later that day, we all found out that Ricky was coming, there wasn't that much buzz around ESPN. Just all negative stuff on ATH & PTI (reading stat lines, admitting to only watching the Olympic games).

I'm not surprised. It's like they don't want anybody to be here. Many of their analyst are talking about how great the Love/Gasol trade would be. I haven't heard one say that Minnesota should keep Love. It's like the team doesn't deserve to have him even though we drafted him. I don't think any team in the NBA gets crapped on for its location more than us.

It's not the location bro. It's the franchise's history of ineptitude. When are the Twins or Vikings crapped on like this? Never.

Yea but they rarely bring that up. They always say "It's cold!" Just say the franchise is terrible instead of bringing up the weather every time.

Now they have a draft show on. These are the more credible commentators though like Van Gundy, Bilas, Scott, etc. So I don't anticipate anything outlandish.

Vikings got crapped on a lot before Brett Favre became a Viking. You still have guys like Trent Dilfer that still hate.

That's because weather typically plays a large role in free agency decisions in the NBA ($ being equal).

Whoa, on that draft ad they had Derrick Williams palming a ball and he was looking at some steps, the camera showed what he was looking at and there was a wolf standing there looking back at him. Aroooo!

Criticising a draft pick or pointing out that starting Tarvaris Jackson at QB is crazy is worlds away from treating the whole franchise as a joke like the Wolves are.

I want to take Williams but I do agree with Gundy that we badly need talent and starters. Bringing in more young players isn't going to help us unless they are bonafide studs.

I'm not disagreeing with you. I'm just pointing out that the Vikes also get sh*ted on too. Hershel Walker trade, Gary Anderson missed kick, choking in 4 superbowls, Randy Moss running people over, and boatparty. Wolves definitely have been hated on from day one, but also people seem to hate on Minnesota sports in general, besides in baseball because they have 2 WS & a new ballpark.

I'm not sure I've ever heard ESPN say anything positive about the Twolves honestly. I remember when the Rubio news broke I had ESPN on most of the day and everyone said he was going to bust and wouldn't amount to nothing, I don't think anyone said he will have success. PTI was the worst about, I can't stand that show.

So how will ESPN rip us for firing Rambis? Any predictions friends?

Barry: I want CLE to pick Williams just to see what the PG Factory will do with Irving
