Kevin Love (PF), Wesley Johnson (SG/SF), Anthony Randolph (PF/C), Martel Webster (SG/SF), Darko (C), Brad Miller (Expiring C), Luke Ridnour (PG), Nikola Pekovic (C)
Total salary: $34,311,515 Total players: 8
for
Dwight Howard, Agent Zero, Daniel Orton, and Q Richardson (we need bench players)
Total salary: $40,706,468 Total players: 4
Wolves Lineup
Dwight Howard/Orton
Williams/Tolliver
Beasley/Williams/Q-Rich
Agent Zero/Q-Rich/Ellington
Rubio/Agent Zero/Lee
o_O
Obviously Howard would have to agree to sign an extension, and Orlando would have to package a few of those players together with a 3rd or even 4th team to fill out their roster a little better (ala Klomps Hinrich trade with Atlanta type deals). But that's the guts of it.
As a secondary option, Minnesota can add Memphis 2013-16 #1 (lotto protected), Utah 2012 #1 (lotto protected), Minnesota 2014 unprotected #1 pick (already traded 2012)
Orlando then keeps Agent Zero, and adds any other players salaries that they can fit under the cap (I'm assuming 62 mil per the owners proposal for this, we'll see after the CBA).
Yes I know, Utah's pick isn't "lotto protected" it's more complex. Deal.

I would due that trade in less then a second.I am huge Love mark and think along with Rubio and Williams are nearly untouchable but if you can land a elite all-star/top ten player in the league in his prime you give up whatever it takes.

i wouldn't do that...agent zero is a deal breaker for me....we would have beasley for next year then he would definitely be gone as we'd already have 2 max contracts, especially not knowing the next cba.
12/13 season we'd have:
d12/orton
williams/tolly?
richardson(12 mid round pick)
arenas
rubio
that team is not good enough to contend for a championship imo, and anything less than that is not good enough for me....i think we'd be offer one of the better packages available and the pressure would be on them to get what they can...not on us
that team is not good enough

The whole point to getting Dwight would be to put him next to love, not gut our roster.
Beasley/Williams, Randolph, and Draft picks would be the best package I'd throw at them (basically anything that's not Love or Rubio).

Exactly. Give'm Beasley, Randolph, Miller's insurance policy, Ellington, and a 1st or two.

I don't think you understand how trades work. Howard's contract is $16 million you have to send back roughly that much back in order for the trade to work under the CBA. Beasley is paid just less than $5 million. In order to get Howard we would have to basically gut the roster.
You'd want to keep 2 or Love/Williams/Beasley. Love shouldn't be untouchable. Williams/Beasley can both play PF and they are more athletic, so keeping Williams/Beasley to go along with Howard might be the best case for Rubio. So keep 2 then Rubio and Johnson. Everyone else should be available and we'd probably have to take back Hedo, which would be fine.
Love, Webster, Milicic, Pekovic, Ridnour, Ellington, Utah 1st, Memphis 1st for Howard, Turkoglu
or
Williams, Webster, Milicic, Pekovic, Ridnour, Ellington, Utah 1st, Memphis 1st for Howard, Turkoglu
We'd be thin on depth but it would look like
Rubio/Lee
Johnson/Lee
Beasley/Turkoglu
(Love/Williams)/Tolliver
Howard/Randolph

I know full well how trades work in case you're new around here, I was just spitballing what kind of assets I'd throw at Orlando besides the obvious salary filler.

Once the labor deal is signed, he'll be paid $6,262,347.

I have to think that ORL can get a much better offer. Clips offer our #1, E Gordon, Kaman, and whatever else, while also being able to take back that toxic Arenas contract. And that was just the first team I thought of.
But any Wolves fan who thinks getting Dwight under any circumstance isn't a done deal is crazy. There is only one Dwight Howard in the league. There are 15/20 quality PFs, maybe 6 solid centers. I'd even take Gilbeau.

I love how every TWolves fan removes an asset from the trade. By page 2 it will be Dwight and a future Orlando first for Darko.

Make it a future 2nd instead of Darko and you have a deal

Well, if you're offering, I guess I'll have to reluctantly agree. Nice doing business with you.

Seriously?
Kevin Love (PF), Wesley Johnson (SG/SF), Anthony Randolph (PF/C), Martel Webster (SG/SF), Darko (C), Brad Miller (Expiring C), Luke Ridnour (PG), Nikola Pekovic (C)
or
Kaman, Eric Gordon, a future 1st round pick.....and some filler.
Unless Blake Griffin is in the deal, the Clippers can't beat that package from the Wolves.
With Blake Griffin in the deal, the Clippers don't have enough that Dwight would resign and stay. That team wouldn't even be as good as the Orlando team Dwight won't resign with.

I would offer Love along with the draft rights to D-Will and fillers for Dwight. Fillers include anyone except Rubio, Wes J, Beasley and AR.

I don't know as if the Magic even entertain an offer not involving Love. If we did however, Derrick Williams would have to be coming back.

I had this counter offer from an Orlando board:
Any trade for Howard needs to bring back a potential franchise player. Kevin Love is a terrific player but he is not a player you build around, so you can't really base any trade around him. Wait until the deadline to see what offers are out there, and if it's clear that Dwight absolutely needs to be moved then I do think however Minnesota has many pieces to offer. Derrick Williams being priority #1 as he would bring a combination of youth, excitement, talented enough to build around and with enough star power of any young player out there. To go off of what the Minnesota fan came up with above, here is a proposal fair for both teams:
Dwight Howard
Gilbert Arenas
Chris Duhon
Quentin Richardson
for
Derrick Williams
Michael Beasley
Nik Pekovic
Luke Ridnour
Martell Webster
Brad Miller
Darko Milicic
Utah 1st
Memphis 1st
Minnesota 1st
Trade Dwight to the Western Conference to a cellar dweller, unload the worst contract in the NBA, get in return a new face, a treasure chest of both assets and expirings. We would be set up for the future very well in the hands of a special and exciting talent like Derrick Williams.
***Disclaimer, I like this trade only if it turns out Dwight HAS to be traded during the season, this trade proposal would be a coup at least compared to the Melo trade.
That might actually be better for both teams. He's right, Love isn't a #1 he's a #2 and a great fit next to Dwight.

Definitely would do this.
Dwight
Williams
Beasley
me
Rubio
Can definitely contend for a title. Orlando wouldn't touch this though.

When I open this thread, I was thinking about something about the size of Fran Vazquez rights!
Question One is going to be: "Dwight, please give us a list of teams you'd agree to be traded to?" He may name one team. He may name a handful. I don't think that list will include MIN
HOWEVER: I think there is one way that we'd have a chance:
Question One-A may be: "Dwight, please give us a list of PLAYERS you'd agree to play with?"
Now, unless someone on our team emerges immediately, I don't think that Dwight's going to name anyone on the wolves. But he may name Chris Paul, and because of the unique situation Chris Paul is in, we may be able to get him. NOH is extremely poor, and they don't even draw with Chris Paul and play-off basketball. They need cheap, star-potential talent to balance their books, and that's one thing MIN has.
The key here is to set up a situation like MIA had last year. We approach both, and say, "With all our young assets and cheap contracts, we can provide a place where you both can play together, and still have enough value on the team to place some people around you. Would you two like to come together and write NBA history, getting accolades (not boos like MIA) for turning around a last place team through your own skill?"
Now that's still a longshot, but more likely than a flat out trade for Dwight.

They're pushing it.
3 1sts, Derrick Williams, Webster and Miller has to be enough. They're never going to get more return. Anyway, it's not realistic. Kevin Garnett, best player in the league at that time didn't even net so much return.
