The Special Bond Between Kahn and Snyder

Clearly, David Kahn and Quin Snyder have a special bond dating back to long before Kahn's hiring of Snyder as coach of the Austin NBDL team. Kahn has been something of a mentor to Snyder for many years, and remains one of his closest and most devoted advocates.

That report linking Mike Krzyzewski to the T-Wolves job--seemingly bogus and off the wall, initially--suddenly makes credible sense: Kahn was doing due diligence on Snyder. I am convinced that the Snyder rumors have legs, and that there is a very real possibility, if not probability, that he'll be hired.

There is something vaguely intriguing and magnetic about Quin Snyder. It goes beyond his obvious charisma and coaching acumen. Kahn think there is greatness in him. I can't put my finger on it, but I sense something extraordinary there as well.

Kahn's assembled a redoubtable collection of young, high-end talent. His future will depend on his choice of coach. Hiring Quin Snyder would be a huge risk--high reward vs. catastrophic fail. But if he's nothing else, David Kahn is a risk-taker. I think Quin Snyder is our next coach.

This is a great post IMO but could have been posted in the Who we should hire thread but to contribute to this thread, according to the Twitter feed on the Wolves website Synder has denied interviewing for the position and stated he would be joining the Lakers. I was kinda starting to warm up to him as a candidate but I guess we have to keep on looking else where

The article's what freaks me out. You think people laugh at Kahn now, if he hires this guy it's gonna be a free for all laugh-fest.

He looks sharp. I grant you that. I mean, he wears that rumpled suit-jacket like a model and I'm pretty sure David Bowie is somewhere wondering who stole his hair. But can he coach? As in, can he coach in the NBA? His only experience of the pro game is as a Clippers assistant almost 20 years ago?? We want a guy who knows the game, knows the league!

OK, so an assistant 20 yrs ago and now a year as an assistant coach after coming back from the dead. Good for him, but we want somebody who has a better idea of what other coaches in the NBA are going to throw at him. This guy could be seven kinds of special but he would still be figuring out way too much stuff for the first time.

there it is. Bowie. I was wondering who he reminded me of, I was thinking Tremors-era Kevin Bacon at first, but its Bowie. Also? I thought he was a black guy. I just mentally pictured Quinn Buckner this whole time.

I have to agree. Kahn could make a great decision at this point and it would still make him the laughing stock of the League.
The man gets 0 respect (In a league with so many bad GMs they could field an interleague softball tournament) case in point is this:

(and I have respect for him as a writer but this is just ridiculous)

It's very interesting the level of scrutiny Minnesota seems to be under. Say what you will about Kahn but he certainly put us back on the map. We are hardly a team that's "under the radar" like say the Warriors (who have had some weird coaches in the past) or a team like the Spurs (with a genius like Poppovich at the helm who can trade a solid player for the 15th pick)

Edit: If this blows up in Kahns face it may be punctuation on his pink slip out of town.

I don't think Glen Taylor gives a damn about the national media. They are irrelevant, I think Kahn knows this as well. The idea that their opinions matter is solipsistic marketing dementia.

Still, as much as I like Rambis and his style it's becoming clear the triangle is just not a good fit for this team. A coach with some serious credentials (the kind beneficial for a young squad, not Larry Brown) could be something to consider.
