As it stands right now we don't have capspace to go after him. And it looks like he's not a lock to resign with Dallas. If Kahn could agree on a contract with him then we have alot of peices for S&T deal. I think Dallas would jump on something like Beasley and Darko or Pek. We get a very good starting C that fits with Love and Dallas gets a very good scorer off the bench that can play both SF and PF and would be ideal backup for Dirk plus they get a backup center as well. Might as well ask for their future first rd pick.

Chandler is what this team needs.

With that said, He'll sign with New York or Dallas.

Chandler will be a Knick ... Amare & Chandler all the way.

Where do the Knicks get the room to sign him? They're over the cap.

Why is NYC always the rumored destination for FA's?? They almost never get them and they never have ANY capspace.

A far more reasonable plan would be to trade Pekovic, Webster, capspace and ??? for Okafor.

Okafor would be a pretty big upgrade, and New Orleans probably wants to drop Oka's contract.

I'm willing to wait and see what Randolph, Darko, Love, and Pek (if he's still here) look like at center with Rubio at the helm and Rambis gone before committing to a contract like Okafor's

Because most major sports outlets, AP writers, Journalists, Bloggers, etc....LOVE NEW YORK. Hence, everyone and their mom is "rumored" to want to go to there.

i like what tyson did with dallas, but im not sure if it isnt just a product of a winning situation. if we want to trade b-easy then lets at least attempt to get something decent back.

i would do this, as i have no real value for pek or webster, and i could see NO wanting to drop okas contract. and in reality i see tyson and okafor as similar centers talent wise.

Don't see it happening. Not that Tyson Chandler is tenured or anything, but he's very valuable to the Mavericks franchise.

I'd love Chandler on this team but I can't see him being happy going from the champions to the Wolves.

Chandler would be a solid addition to this team however, his addition would merely be a start towards balancing this roster. We are gonna need much more than just Chandler.

Merely a start? He would fix a position of need! That would mean we only have to fix the SG position. We would still have a lot of PF's but prospects can be dealt rather easily.

i think people are quite a bit to low on darko now...two huge things are now working in his favour - 1. the fact that rambis is gone and he won't need to be close to a centerpoint in the offense and can be used as the defensive stopper/anchor that he is....2. ricky rubio will get him probably at least 2 dunks(or finger rolls ) a game....there's no reason in my mind to think somewhat conservatively that, given the same minutes, he won't be able to give 7-8 points on much better efficiency, lower turnover numbers and better post defense...that would certainly be liveable for a year as a starter or better yet as a back up....all i'm saying is i think people were down on darko mainly due to the fact that rambis used him completely wrong...as a pure defensive big who can score on the creation from other teammates he will be very valuable to us as most starting centers play this roll anyway. he'll be fine in this roll as a starter until we can find an upgrade.....JONAS.....KAAAAAAAHHHHHHNNNNNN!!!!!!!

It could be argued that Chandler was the 2nd most important person in Dallas's title run, they're not going to agree to a S&T for Beasley/Darko. They'd want serious pieces, unless Chandler wanted out, which I highly doubt.

Chandler would be merely a start because we need more than just one player to improve our defensive woes.

If they were going to get Tyson Chandler the time to do so would've been when the Hornets were looking to deal him or when the Bobcats sent him to Dallas. Only way he was signing a contract with the Wolves is if he were re-signing after they had put good faith into him by believing in him when others didn't or by paying him vastly more then he is worth which they don't have the cap space to do.

I think there's a good chance that a hard cap in the new CBA puts an end to sign-and-trades, salary-matching, and the like. That said, even if we had the cap room to sign him outright I doubt he'd sign here, once a player gets a taste of winning like Chandler did last year it is hard to sell him on a bottom-feeder like us.

Dallas deserves credit for using the Dampier contract and getting him for basically nothing. He was clearly the difference-maker on that team. I thought he was the best defensive player in the league last year, without blocking a ton of shots because he could almost single-handedly shut down a pick and roll game with his length and agility as he demonstrated in the finals. Part of what intrigues me about Randolph as a C is that he has similar length and agility, if he can ever fully put together the mental part of the game and get stronger in his lower body.

Youngguns - I agree with you on this topic...

Chandler may have been the difference in the Mavs playoff run with his defensive/rebounding presence and Y is correct that they made a great deal to get him.

If you recall, Chandler was actually traded to the Thunder the previous year and did not pass his physical... If the Thunder keeps that trade they would more than likely have not traded Green for Perkins. That means they may have had a better chance to beat the Mavs...assuming they would have made it that far.


As for Chandler, it's assumed that he wants to go to stay with the Mavs or go to a 'contender'...whatever that means.
