I quit reading when they didn't count Kevin Durant as a young player. :D

That's a very stupid rule to make.

Yeah, sorry Mac but OKC has got to be the best young team in the NBA right now.

They better hope they do, they are certainly young by all accounts. Whenever they start playing games again we should certainly find out for sure assuming they hire a decent coach.

I say take a chance and give Eric Musselman a third shot at being a head coach, he certainly knows how to adjust his style to suit his rosters and he develops talent he would already be coaching if not for that DUI when with the Kings.

You have to draw the line somewhere and I drew it with players still on rookie contracts. Rudy Gay is a great player, but Rudy Gay at a full contract has dramatically less value. It's even harder to compare trade value when you throw in contracts outside the rookie scale.

Maybe doing another taking age into account would balance things out? If you are taking rookie deals as the decider, that leaves out obviously young teams (like OKC). Maybe another featuring rookie deals and/or 1st extensions would even work?

You included 8 players who are within 6 months in age of Kevin Durant.
(Blake Griffin, Eric Gordon, Michael Beasley, Jimmer Fredette, Russell Westbrook, Jordan Crawford, Derrick Rose, Kosta Koufos)

Further, you included 20 players who are actually older than Kevin Durant.
(DeAndre Jordan, Kevin Love, Wesley Johnson, Nikola Pekovic, Wayne Ellington, J.J. Hickson, Donte Greene, Marcus Thorton, Eric Maynor, JaVale McGee, Darren Collison, Roy Hibbert, Tyler Hansbrough, George Hill, Brandon Rush, Omer Asik, Taj Gibson, Omri Casspi, Stephen Curry, and Ekpe Udoh)

Kevin Durant on any contract is more valuable than any of these players with the possible exception of Derrick Rose. Any discussion of the best young team has to start and end with the Thunder.

Kevin Durant on Kobe's contract < Blake Griffin on his current contract.

I remember a time not too long ago that Portland would easily have been #1 on that list. Now? Not even on it.

Dang.

You're probably right, but my point was that he should be on the list. Disagree?

I agree, OKC #1. Clippers are set up to be #2, us #3.
