The "Trade Beasley" Thread

Post#1 » by Klomp » Sun Jul 17, 2011 2:20 am

Here you go JMillott, have at it.

Note: I do not endorse trading him, but just providing a platform in order to avoid having other threads derailed.

I would definitely take an Beasley-Afflalo swap.

How about Ariza? I think Ariza is better, and might even end up cheaper than Afflalo. Beas at PF in NO next to CP3 and Okafor ain't too bad either.

I do not want to trade Beasley. I just also don't want every thread here to be derailed by people who do. Hopefully this will help that.

I don't think he'll be much cheaper than Ariza but they are comparable players though I think Afflalo plays better defensive, shoots better and is more of a pure SG than Ariza. A 3-team trade might be interesting. I'm fine with keeping Beasley but I guess I really like Afflalo and what he can bring to the team/balance it out.

I'd love to see this line-up occasionally:
Rubio
Afflalo
Johnson
Williams
Love

Afflalo would be a dream. Trade him to the Bobcats for Biyombo. Or use him in a package to get Jonas' rights from the Raptors. C or SG. I think if Williams outplays him he is done here. No way he gets an extension from Glen now, nor should he. Unfortunately his trade value just went the way of Bear Stearns stock price circa late 2008.

LMAO. Good one Klomp. Separate the loud kid from the rest of the class. JMill get's his own thread. Too funny.

I want to give Beasley next season. Maybe not the entire season (depending on the number of games played), but I want to see what he does next year before I entertain trading him for someone who isn't a clear upgrade. For the record, I still think he's going to be much better next year. If he continues his ball-stopping ways, then I'm fine letting him go as we have Derrick Williams and others to fill the space.

Thank you Klomp.

At least I can now browse in this board again without reading a thousand trade Beasley posts.

Anyway, keeping him is the best option unless a major deal pops up which isn't the case with the current lockout and wouldn't be the case without a lockout either. .

Why do you need Ariza, when you have Wes Johnson?

I heard Beas just shaved off those punk ass corn rows. I'm willing to give him a second chance.

Was he going to be drug-tested by hair sample?

If true it's a good move. I hated those things.
We won't get the awesome fro though anymore.

Some of us do, since Beasley's "best" game is inefficient and takes minutes and touches away from other players. This classic chart pretty much sums up how I feel about Beas:

He'll probably be here to start the season, but he's the most dispensible young guy on a roster full of them, IMO.

I'm sure this thread will atrract posters who wander over from other boards, so I wanted to say that I think it's very unlikely we see Micheal Beasley get traded, regardless of fit.

1. Right now, Micheal Beasley is MIN's best .. and nearly one .. player that can create his own shot off the dribble.

2. MIN's greatest need is a superstar. We're unlikely to get a free agent superstar to come here, and even if we traded for one, in today's NBA there's too great a chance that once we acquired him, he'd simply demand a trade elsewhere. Kahn has picked up a lot of high-upside players, hoping that even though the chance is slim, we grow one on our own.

3. Beasley claimed this off-season was the most important of his career, and he'd be working very hard to improve his game before his contract year. Kahn is going to want to see if Beasley will be dedicated, and what that can bring.

4. Right now, Micheal Beasley's trade value is probably in the toilet. Even if Kahn wanted to make a value-based trade, what he would get back is worth less to the team than holding onto the Beasley lottery-ticket.

Afflalo is more of a pure SG while Johnson plays more like a SF. I spose I would trade WJ for AA straight up. THen we can keep Beasley. Idea would be WJ can be a good defender, AA is already one, we can start to shore up our defense.

Afflalo can shoot, Ariza can't. If Ariza's % were that bad playing next to Chris Paul then if we brought him here, he'd be making us yearn for the days of Corey Brewer.

Right now I think it's too early to do that based on the one season where he had to learn a new position, a new offense, and had the ankle problems. However, if another half of season's worth of games passes and he hasn't shown that he's going to be a star in this league, than I would consider trading him at that point.

Perhaps we could bring in some of Nellie's guys:

Beasley for Pietrus + Lopez + future protected first

Darko + Pekovic + Hayward for Biedrins

Rubio/Ridnour
Webster/Pietrus
Williams/Johnson + Lee/Tolliver
Love/Randolph
Bidrins/Lopez
