HOU - MN (Martin - Beasley)

Post#1 » by Krapinsky » Sat Jul 23, 2011 8:36 pm

With the possibility (however long) that the Wolves could land Adelman, and considering the mixed Beasley feelings on the board, I thought I'd throw this out there and see if anything sticks.

HOU OUT/MN IN: Martin
HOU IN/MN OUT: Pekovic + Beasley + Memphis 1st

Houston looks like they're trying to rebuild. Beasley gives them someone with the kind of upside potential Morey might be looking for. Pekovic gives them a center (a position they could use help at) that has a low post game that McHale appreciates (and he was a McHale pick to boot).

Minnesota gets a player Adelman has coached for a long time. Martin helps balance out the roster by trading a SF for a SG. Although Martin doesn't help us defensively, Beasley-Martin are probably a wash in that regard. Having Johnson and Webster spend more time defending 3's instead of 2's though could be a net positive there. Minnesota has to throw in the first due to Beasley's diminished trade value at the moment.

Rubio/Martin/Johnson/Love/Darko
Ridnour/Webster/D-Will/Tolliver/Randolph
Lee/Ellington/Hayward/*/Miller

Lowry/Lee/Beasley/Scola/Pekovic
Dragic/Budinger/Morris/Patterson/Motiejunas
Flynn/T-Will/Parsons/Hill/Thabeet

I'd do it, I don't think Morey would.
"A while back,'' Cardinal said, "I took a picture of the standings and texted it to Love, just to bust his chops,'' Cardinal said. "He sent me a picture back of a snowdrift.''

I'd do it easily, even include the Jazz pick if Morey tries to squeeze more. Martin is a good vet, Adelman likes him, he's a better scorer than Beasley and equally sh#t on defense, he's an upgrade any way you slice it.

I thought everyone hated Kevin Martin and his no defense and big contract.
And doesn't everyone love Iguodala, couldn't you just do the same trade but for him, maybe have to swap Darko but I'm sure still be glad to do it.

Sign me up. Martin is one of the most underrated players in the NBA.

I'd do that. Martin, although he is overpaid, only has 2 years left on his contract.

Nope.

Martin = 1.48 points per shot (4th in the NBA)

Beasley = 1.12 points per shot (109th in the NBA)

Moreover, salaries are about equal when you consider Pekovic is/won't be used and Beasley is due for a pay raise. It actually might save us money long term.

?

Martin is a better scorer than Beasley IMO and neither really plays defense. Plus we get to dump Pekovic which is a good thing. YES.

Kevin Martin would be a near perfect fit for the Wolves. Much, much better than a Monta Ellis type. I really can't think of a better SG out there to pair with Rubio. Martin's one of the biggest pesks out there on the offensive end, and in an opportunist-ran defense he and Rubio would be a terrific combination. I can't imagine Kahn pulling it off but it's fun to think about.

I don't know about adding a first, let alone multiple firsts like someone suggested, for a guy with a big contract and fairly consistent injury problems.

I wouldn't be against acquiring Martin, especially if they got Adelman.

I'm a little concerned with injuries still but I think I would do it.

Martin is a very efficient scorer, I'd do it :)

I think Houston would want more for their best player. I'd do this deal in a heartbeat as a Wolves fan, though.

Wolves trade Beas, Pek, Mem' and Utah 1 rd picks for Martin

Houston trade Martin, Thabeet for Pekovic, Posey(exp deal), Mem' and Utah 1 rd picks, 2nd rd picks from Indy and Charlote

Indy trade Posey and 2nd rd pk for Ty Thomas and Thabeet(negative value)

Charlotte trade Thomas and 2nd for Beasley

FYI - Krap put this on the trade board as well, and someone mentioned putting Williams in the deal in place of Beasley. I think that's closer to the value Houston would want.
