Possibly not even if you added in all of your team's remaining assets.

Haha on other forums minnesota "fans" Dont think Rubio is good and complain about his stats. I see the fans here are smarter lol. T-wolves will be fun to watch next year. I want to see some Rubio to Derrick Williams Alley-oops.

Ricky Rubio the next Steve Nash!

Seriously? Brooks for Rubio? Hold on, I'll throw in Love for Frye too, anything else?

Don't forget to throw in Williams for that future first round pick (top 20 protected through 2016)

Minus the shooting, but I think a better comparison is a slightly slower version of Rondo. I could highlight there differences a little more, but it's easier to just say Rubio is Rubio. I just hope we can add a real scoring guard. Rondo at least had the luxury of having Allen on the team. I'm still holding the belief that Kahn will pull off a blockbuster trade before the deadline like he claimed he would last season.

Now if we discover that Rubio is really a bust, it still wouldn't change my view that he was the right pick at #5 and I would defend Kahn for his decision. I'll let people rip on him for Flynn though.

Aaron Brooks would just turn into another Jonny Flynn here. Rubio's potential is much higher than Brooks. Rick also fits alot better with our current players. So no.

You had to take Flynn there, personally I wanted Curry, but it would have been really tough to pass on Flynn, you just couldn't.

He was probably joking, but at the time it didn't seem totally unreasonable to me. The wolves needed a point guard and the free agents weren't looking that attractive as I recall. A lot of people hoped Curry could be a point guard, but there were concerns about even how successful a combo guard he could be. Hindsight leaves no doubt about the choice I guess and there were plenty of people who had it right at the time.

At that time I didn't even have Flynn on my radar. I was very happy that Rubio slipped to us and wanted/expected DeRozan with the 6th pick, although he was more in like the 9-12 range at that time. It would've worked out just fine with if we drafted DeRozan. Curry would've been a good choice as well. :(

Before that draft I was saying frequently, "Some idiot GM is going to get caught into the hype of Flynn's 6 OT game and then is going to draft him way too damn high, likely costing him his job." Unfortunately it was our idiot GM.

We had just drafted Rubio, and we had the 18th pick in a draft with Lawson, Holiday, Collison and Teague who all went in that area of the draft.

I think they were looking for someone who could both start right away and maybe develop enough to bring them someone good in a trade when Rubio did finally come over. At the time, all the guys you mentioned seemed to have huge flaws and low ceilings (Lawson was too small, Holiday too raw, Collison too frail and Teague was an undersized SG), so Flynn kind of made sense. I mean, it turned out he sucked, but I can't fault Kahn too much for picking a quick, PnR scoring point guard.

This is all true. I just wanted to point out that with the sixth pick, MIN isn't trying to fill it's roster needs (an 18th is fine for that). At 6, on a bad team with no play-off expectation, a GM is trying to pluck the guy they think will have the greatest chance of becoming a star, regardless of position.

I don't know why Kahn chose Flynn, but I think too much is made of the fact that Flynn is a PG.

I hope Kahn took Flynn because he thought Flynn was the BPA. I don't think it made any sense for the Wolves to take a PG because they needed a stopgap between the time Rubio was drafted and when he arrived.

What was the bigger mistake, drafting Flynn, or hiring Rambis to destroy Flynns game?

Drafting Flynn. Hiring Rambis seemed reasonable/great at the time. Drafting Flynn was a total WTF moment for the fanbase. And it's questionable if Flynn had game in the first place, to destroy.
