Free Agency

Post#1 » by Grits n Gravy » Sat Oct 1, 2011 2:48 am

When we start the season on time who would you like us to add in through free agency?
http://espn.go.com/nba/news/story?page=FreeAgents-11-12

Personally I'd really like us to taget a first and foremost high character vet and secondly i think we could use more depth at the 2 and 3(personally i don't see D Will playing much 3 and I think it would be fair to say it is hard to rely on Martell's health) .

My top three options would be Grant Hill, Shane Battier and Anthony Parker.

If we were gonna bring in another young guy(highly highly unlikely) I would love to see us go after Earl Clark as I really liked what i saw of him after his move to Orlano.

Obviously the dream would to get Marc Gasol or DeAndre Jordan but that ain't happening.

Edit: And Chuck Wagon :D

A center...Chuck Hayes or Gasol is who I'd want...Other then that...we should try to dump some wings before we go after Battier(I hope we do anyway).

Battier would be a great addition. People would bash us for adding another SF, though.

M. Gasol would obviously be the perfect fit. He's going to stay in Memphis, IMO.

Dalembert is also a guy who I'd be willing to pick up.

Chuck Hayes. It has to happen, it just has to.

Tracy McGrady might be worth a look. He's obviously past his prime but he was ok as a role player in Detroit and might welcome a chance to play under Adelman again.

I didn't know Kwame was a free agent. It's not a sexy pick, but I think he's worth a look.

DeAndre Jordan, bid as high as it needs to be. This guy would be sick on the Pups.

We should have just drafted him like I was hoping we would do but instead, we have Pek. Clippers are going to do everything they can to keep him anyways.

Realistically for us: Chuck Hayes, Kwame Brown, etc.

One of the centers if Darko or Pek is amnestied...

Realistically with new coach, shortened FA period, and 14 roster spots spoken for + Lee, I don't think they go after anyone in this FA period.

^ yeah, we'd definately have to make some moves...Preferably dumping Pek, Hayward, Ellington, and possibly a couple other players.

The Wolves picked up the 2012-2013 options of Hayward and Ellington. Still don't understand why we bothered with Hayward.

I'm guessing because he was a rookie and he had some small flashes as the season went on.

He's almost 25 (a senior citizen in Timberwolf years). I think he's always going to be the same guy, but it would really help Hayward if the team was better. Last year he was another player who can't create. It's not like we have a shortage of forwards either.

It's not like it's a life or death situation. It's a cheap contract on a team that has a new coach, so maybe he could get some real playing time. Sometimes I just wonder why do we have Hayward when we should pursue (insert unrealistic option here).

Lets use this thread for FA talk...

How about Przybilla?
“Joel Przybilla plays winning basketball,” assistant coach Bill Bayno says. “They don’t get any better.”

Listen to Bayno as he waxes effusive in praise of the Minnesota native:

“First of all, he’s a great person. He’s coachable. He listens, and he’s smart. He’s a veteran. He gives us that toughness and veteran leadership. Every guy on the team knows Joel has his back.”

Bayno calls Przybilla “the most underrated defensive player in the NBA.”

“Joel has won us more games with his defense, shutting guys down,” Bayno says. “And he covers all kinds of players, from David West to Pau Gasol to Yao Ming. He’s a warrior. He gives up his body, gets beaten up every day … there’s no way to truly measure his value to us.”

Maybe. I don't know if his knees will ever be completely healthy though.
