Saw Ricky Rubio play in Person Today

Post#1 » by Leor_77 » Thu Nov 10, 2011 11:25 pm

Hi guys,

I just wanted to say that I saw Rubio playing today and was very impressed. You're very lucky to have him. From what I saw, he held his own and then some against the elite NBA talent that were also at that pickup game (i.e. David Lee, KG, Pierce, John Wall, Granger, etc.). His jumpshot is very solid and he has great handles and can get really good penetration. Also has good poise - He looked like he really belonged there with those other stars. John Wall looked nice, but he looked like a ballhoger out there. I think Ricky should be the ROY next year. Really looking forward to seeing him play.

a little confused on how you worded that last part.

if your saying you think hes not that good then i disagree. I think he will be very good in time, and this thread only strengthens that thought

Wouldn't it be smart to actually wait and watch Rubio play in a NBA season first before jumping to conclusions?

I agree that Rubio isn't not good. He should be solid.

Double negative = positive
He's just trying to be funny, and saying rubio doesn't suck.

Lol - Don't really know how my thread got de-railed so quickly. Just an interesting tidbit, but I saw Rubio walk by my office several times. Didn't believe it was him, but now that I saw that he plays pick-up with the big boys, I can see that it obviously was.

Was he ever matched up against Wall? How did that go? How did he defend him?

The dreaded "double negative" can kill any quality thread.

Good to hear he looks like he belongs with some of the better guys in the league. Honestly, my biggest concern with him is his ability to hit open shots. If he can do that, he's ain't not gonna be pretty darn good I think.

A missed shot will get you a night in the box. A turnover will get you a night in the box. A missed rotation will get you a night in the box.

not that this hasn't been entertaining, but can we have more details about Rubios performance in these pick up games? did he show off a scoring ability per chance? Were these games low defense? Was he only good on the break? Did he do anything unreal?

did he show off a scoring ability per chance? yes, ricky rubio knows how to shoot a basketball, if you dont think rubio knows how to score, your dumb.
Were these games low defense? highest defense you could ever imagine.
Did he do anything unreal? nope, this was real life.
