Is Griffin v Love a Budding Rivalry?

Was just thinking about this last night. I think this could grow into a nice little rivalry for both players and their teams.

Griffin has a 2-1 advantage in wins.

Love: 20.7 ppg, 11.7 rpg
Griffin: 25.7 ppg, 11.7 rpg

Eh. They're buddies. It's a fun hope, but feels forced since they're both media goof-balls who tweet jokes at one-another.

I'm pretty resigned to the fact that we just don't have rivalries. Since our division is essential left-overs west of the Mississippi and players all grow up as friends and teammates, it probably won't happen.

Players don't have to hate each other for there to be a rivalry, they do have to play on good teams though.

It makes it more interesting, but I'm still waiting to see Rubio take on Jennings.

There's a typo w/ love's rebounding stats.

I think there could potentially be a rivalry if both of our teams become good, but I don't think it will amount to much since Love is not an alpha dog scorer like Blake is. If our team is to become good someone else will be filling that role, likely Williams or Beasley, making comparisons between Blake and Love a little forced.

No there's not.

If using that reasoning, KG was never really an alpha dog scorer either, but KG v Duncan was still a pretty good rivalry.

Players on opposing teams are too buddy-buddy these days. I miss the days when the pistons/bulls/celts/lakers all hated each other. The games had so much more intensity. Like all those Reggie Miller vs. the Knicks playoff series. I think it's about players caring way too much these days about being liked, that they lose that swagger the old-school guys always had.

Blake/Love could be a good rivalry if either played any defense. The way it is now when we play the Clippers it looks like a pickup game. KG/Duncan was awesome to watch because both players were so good on both ends of the court.

I think the best shot the Wolves have at a rivalry, in the event the Wolves improve to the point another team would consider them a rival, would be OKC. The Beasley/Durant connection, Westbrook and Love being former roommates, and rumors that was who Rubio wanted to get drafted by.

Klomp, you're talking about head-to-head right?
Unless I misunderstood you, I think you're missing one game:

Game 1: November 11 - Wolves 113, Clippers 111
Kevin Love, 24 and 14
Blake Griffin, 26 and 17

Game 2: December 20 - Clippers 113, Wolves 90
Kevin Love, 12 and 10
Blake Griffin, 22 and 10

Game 3: January 19 - Clippers 126, Wolves 111
Kevin Love, 26 and 11
Blake Griffin, 29 and 8

Game 4: February 16 - Clippers 98, Wolves 90
Kevin Love, 18 and 18
Blake Griffin, 29 and 8

New totals:
Griffin up 3-1 in wins
Griffin: 26.5 and 10.8
Love: 20 and 13.3

The only reason I looked was that I was surprised by your rebounding numbers.

Yeah that is a possible rivalry. I don't see Griffin and Love as rivals at all. LMA and Love would make more sense cause of the all star game last year, Portland's video of LMA hitting the ball into Love's face, and Portland hating Love.
