Real GM Wolves Create-A-Team Tournament 2k12 Edition
I'm going to do something new and am trying to make a playoff tournament entirely made up of customized teams. This tournament will be for fun and to celebrate the fast approaching NBA season.
Short Synopsis:
You pick a team. You get to pick its players. I run a tournament and we see who has come up with the best squad in NBA 2K12. If you are interested read on.
How it works:
I will have 8 teams in the playoffs.
First and second round games are all one and done.
Championship game will be best of 3
How the teams are picked:
Anyone who wants can join and make a team until all 8 teams are filled.
-Pick a team (For team name purposes only, you will have a new roster)
-Pick players
-Give me your starting lineup and brief summary of bench rotation
It is first come first serve there should be plenty of players to go around for all teams to be competitive.
Any player that is in the game and currently in the NBA can be selected as long as
-They are not a rookie
-They haven't been picked by somebody else before hand
Players are picked in this format:
2 Gold players- Anyone rated 85 or higher
3 Silver players- Anyone 66-84
4 Bronze players Anyone 65 and under
If all gold level players are taken or if you prefer, for every gold player you don't take, you can replace one bronze player spot with two silver. You can do this up to two times. Thus your team would have zero gold players but seven silver and two bronze. You could also chose to take one gold player and have two silver with the other gold. That would leave your team with one Gold player, five silver players and three bronze.
Basically if a player is really good, he is probably a gold player. If they are decent to good they are probably Silver and if they are bench warmers/role players they will be bronze.
For example. The wolves have no gold players.Love at 81 is a Silver player. A bronze player on the wolves would be Telfair, Darko, Wayne, Tolliver, etc.
Any other players left over will be fill in low level players.
I will tell you if a player you pick does not qualify and you can also look at the ratings yourself on the list below.
http://thereal2kinsider.blogspot.com/20 ... eased.html
How will the tournament be run?
I will have the computer play every match up with 10 minute quarters on the simulation game mode setting. This way we get some realistic stats and I can monitor the games. I will provide a little write up for each game and break down the key stats.
If anyone has any question ask away. Otherwise if anyone wants to join in on this go ahead and post your team. First come first serve so the sooner you put your team together the better.

Awesome. Look good so far. I'll make your team in a bit and let you know if there are any problems with the ratings. That looks really fun to watch.
Ok so the first team is in. 7 more to go!

Excellent. You just need 4 bronze scrubs to go on there or I can assign them for you after everyone else has picked.

You look good. I'm going to start putting these teams together in a few because this can get messy will all the roster flips.
We are half way there. Four more teams to go!

Re: Real GM Wolves Create-A-Team Tournament 2k12 Edition
2 more teams fellas! We can get started tonight if we get them. The gold level players are going fast so I added a new provision that lets you forgo a gold and bronze player in exchange for two silver players. You can mix and match that anyway you like by taking one gold player and having two extra silver or taking four silver and have no gold players and only two bronze players. People who already made teams can do this to so if you want to swap some guys out, let me know.
I think this tournament will be good. I will say this, I ran a few test games quarters to see how some of the teams operate and there are some damn impressive teams out there when they hit the court. I saw one tandem in particular that looked unstoppable in the two quarters of play I saw. I also saw another tandem on a different team that was very disappointing. Maybe it was just that one game but they played terrible with each other and their team was getting blown out.

Why is NBA2K12 so incredibly hard? The computer beats me by 20-40 points every game. Any tips fellas?

I'm just learning how to play it myself. Seems very hard to get inside the paint. Only tips I have are these few.
-Only make passes that are obviously open. If anyone is anywhere near the area between you and the receiver, don't pass.
-Post up often, especially with big guards or skilled SF's like Beasley.
-Hold LB for a pick and roll
-If you can get close to the basket, attack aggressively you can get a lot free throws.
