Ridnour Offers

Maybe he's in a Kevin Martin deal, but if not, I asked the trade board what they'd offer:

I'd do it for the TPE just to free up a roster space/cap but ideally he'd be in a package for an upgrade at a position. If that's Martin, Iggy, etc, whatever.

Or both...
http://espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=83wr4gm

Rubio/Barea
Martin/Webster
Iguodala/Williams
Love/Williams
Randolph/Tolliver

or

Rubio/Barea
Martin/Webster
Iguodala/Webster
Williams/Randolph
Love/Tolliver

We'd be kind of screwed financially though

Why would Philly do that?

1. Upgrade at C
2. Unload Iggy's contract (Shrink could tell you more about that)
3. Wes Johnson at SF
4. More time for Evan Turner (SG)
5. Open up cap-space moving forward (Miller's contract next season)

That deal leaves the Wolves with no money and no centers.

FAIL.

Randolph/Love as the Wolves centers is pretty much par for the course for Adelman :D

No from Philly and Houston I think.

I'd be happy to target one of those players, but not both.

And we have how many decent Centers now? Darko could be decent if he were more assertive, but he will never be that type of player. Adelmen will be able to adapt to playing Love/Randolph at C. I think Love can become a good Chuck Hayes-type defender. He's shown his will work hard through his work this summer. The upgrades at SG/SF are enough to outweigh whatever downgrade going from Darko is, if that is a downgrade at all. Sure the cap-situation would be a mess, but having a team that can win is what fans pay for, not a low-payroll team that is consistently near the bottom.

Houston doesn't need a PG though. They have Lowry, Flynn, and Dragic. If he were to be involved in a Martin deal it would have to be to the 3rd team (and even then, I would think the Rockets would want to ship Dragic in such a deal).

Odds are if Ridnour is moved it's in a separate deal. Like the deal stun704 said or to a team like Washington for a TPE.

Darko is not a significant upgrade over Hawes. He's slightly better, but still is a backup center in this league.

Indeed brother.

2. Unload Iggy's contract (Shrink could tell you more about that)

Iggy has a massive contract, but he's no Gilbert Arenas or Rashard Lewis. He's still doing well for his team and they made the playoffs last season. He's relatively young and rarely misses a game.

3. Wes Johnson at SF

Wes is a decent player, but to me he's not a starter (yet) on a good team. He's more of a very good player to bring off the bench.

4. More time for Evan Turner (SG)

Iggy is starting at SF while Meeks is starting at SG. If Turner shows significant improvement he will eat into Meeks' and Williams' their playing time. He would have a larger role with Iggy out of town. That's why the Sixers should trade Iggy to get a very good PF/C back.

5. Open up cap-space moving forward (Miller's contract next season)

Trading Iggy to get a good big man in return would be something the Sixers should explore. They wouldn't just trade him to get (VERY LITTLE) cap relief and a bunch of mediocre players in return. This team made the playoffs last season, they want to improve on that.

Darko is better defensively than Chuck Hayes is. If you think Hayes is an upgrade, what is Darko?

Darko's problem is he's absolutely wretched offensively, especially in the post. And being the wonderful coach and basketball genius that he was, Rambis decided to run the offense through Darko and feed him in the post for his patented 6 foot hook shot that misses 2/3 of the time and draws no fouls.

If Darko's job is to block shots, set screens on offense, and guard the other team's big man he's quite valuable. I feel confident Adelman will recognize this and use him properly. And let me add... if DeAndre Jordan is worth $11 mil a year, Darko is a steal.

I'm trying to find a way to say this nicely, but I just can't. You've gotta be delusional to think Hawes is even close to as valuable as Darko.

I'll say again, Darko is wretched offensively. Just awful. But he's not just "above average" defensively, and his defensive +/- from his Detroit days all the way through his Minnesota days have been stellar. The only time he ever had a negative defensive +/- was playing with Dwight Howard. He was better than Marc Gasol, and even managed to put up a good defensive +/- in Detroit with their all world defense.

I think people watched Rambis run the offense through Darko 500 too many times, and it poisoned them on the defensive side of the ball where Darko is a top 10 defensive center. How much value do top 10 defensive centers with wretched offense have in the NBA?

http://www.basketball-reference.com/pla ... cda01.html
Go back on 82games.com and check his on/off all the way to his Detroit years. Every year, every single year he's a stellar +/- defensively. Rasheed Wallace caliber headcase and turrible offensive player? Absolutely. But he's still a great defensive center on a good contract.

The halfcourt defense was bad last year, but the transition defense was attrocious. I don't lay that on the center. We were beaten with easy transition baskets because we simply were unable to stop the ball.

What would you guys think of:

Ridnour + someone making 2m or less, anyone, long contract or short

for

Lou Amundson (2.5m expiring)

Reason being, W's would probably still like to try and add a C, and need the capspace for... sigh... Dalembert. Just absorbing Luke straight up puts us at only 6.8m, not much difference from the MLE. Even adding a 2m like salary, saving us 500k, would help us out.

Think it can be agreed that the defense needs to get better all-around. We'll most likely see half a season of the current roster for Adelman to evaluate the roster and weed some guys out.

It depends how confident Portland in being serious playoff contenders. They still are a solid playoff team without Roy, but that shorted schedule will hurt because they lack depth.

agree with narf and wesj4...darko brings great value on defense and is one of the better centers on that end...i have no doubt adelmon will use him properly.

and wesj...i had almost forgot how terrible we were in transition d

And lets not forget how they scored all those points in transition...
Darko sets up the offense, looks for someone to pass to...oh and throws it to the other team who runs down the court and scores another easy basket.
Hey, now let's run some plays for Brewer!
And Flynn, create offense for yourself without using the pick and roll. Because you're too good at that, you might actually score efficiently if you do that.
Aww, another turnover! At least they're learning!

My favorite stat of last season? Darko's usage rating was higher than Ridnour's.
Yay Rambis!!!

How about this;
http://games.espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachi ... Id=c6bw6qj

Ridnour, Pek, Ellington, and Hayward, plus the Utah 1st for Okafor

New Orleans only has 5 players under contract, it looks like they may not be able to trade CP3 to get more. We now have 16 players with deals! So we give them a handful of cheap players, and they let go of their second biggest contract... we could add Tolliver in as well if needed.

Just a thought :)
