5 yrs 43 mil. Per Marc Stein.
Good deal?
If he keeps playing like he did last year, yes.
Nugs probably would have matched up to 10 if they gave him this much.

I think it was probably a good contract. Afflalo played like a two way starter last year. Most guys are a plus at one end and either a minus or average at the other. I think he still has the potential to be a plus at both ends of the floor. Also seems like a high character guy.

Seems about right. Rather have Afflalo than Thornton who got $40/5.

That sounds fair to me.
While he's not a big man, his game still has room to grow.

I think the money is pretty fair when you look at his all-around game. I don't think Denver low-balled him, but I think it's within reason. I would have put Afflalo on the top of my wish list for Wolves FAs this off season, but I'm glad to see him stay in Denver.

He deserves that $ more than say, Nick Young, because he plays both ends of the court well.
I wouldn't have hesitated to offer Afflalo that deal.

Agreed. I've seen plenty of posts wanting the Wolves to get after Young and I just can't do it. I'd rather have a tentative Wes Johnson than Nick Young. I'm guessing the numbers he signed for show that the league agrees.

Wasn't the whole point of the lockout to stop role players (even really good ones like Afflalo) from getting these kinds of big contracts?

That and to prevent players like Dwight Howard from forcing his way to a team he wants to play for......which will happen eventually.
I didn't watch a ton of Affalo's games, but know he's a decent two way player. That said, higher than I would've wanted to see us go.

Slightly overpaid. He's a solid player but I don't see where his upside is. It's not like he's going to get more efficient or better defensively.
I think Denver kind of bid against themselves here.

The whole point of the lockout was to allow the owners to make more money.

I like the contract, but it doesn't sound like anyone was offering him real money.

I think it's a bit too much, but not terrible. Nene + Afflalo combined make $22 mil a year over 5 years. I think they've essentially locked themselves into 5 years of 1st round exits and #20 draft picks.

I guess I'm just a lil too old school, but this is a little too much money dished at Afflalo! Close to 9 million a year for a role player, albeit a good one, is way too much. There have been some very bad contracts handed out since the lockout.

If they follow this path they will. That's why I have a suspicion that Nene will likely be traded in the near future.

i think it's definitely a bit too much imo...afflalo is really nice and i'd love to have him but he's basically a better jump shooting thabo sefolosha...doesn't create his own offense and is just basically a catch and shoot guy of teammates creation/penetration...i see no reason why wes can't become something close to what he is.

I think Wes will develop in that role....as a SF. He might develop into a SG/SF version of Afflalo, but I'm not sure yet.
On the plus side, he's not going to get paid $8.6 mil a year.

+1
If Wes can be a positive asset on both offense and defense then I'm fine with where he was drafted and who he was drafted over (except Paul George).
