Wolves interested in Hayes

[Jerry Zgoda] Jerry Zgoda: New blog: Agent says Wolves have "high interest" in signing UFA Chuck Hayes after extensive tests clear him to play http://bit.ly/gXiCUL 1 minute ago

Friendly suggestion: Sign him, trade Darko/Pek to Por for Camby. Gives wolves room to extend some players next season.

Now if anyone could transmit above message to Kublai Khan..

KEY WORDS: "Agent says"

I imagine after his own heart issues, Glen Taylor will avoid enabling Chuck Hayes to get back on the court.

I remember he used the old amnesty on Fred Hoiberg once he demonstrated an arrhythmia, even though there were other choices that would have saved him more money.

I just don't think Taylor will take the risk. He's too personally invested

Nah - they had to renounce the MLE in order to get rid of it's cap hold to sign Barrea.

I'm not saying they couldn't generate the cap space elsewhere, but the MLE stuff is wrong.

I'm down for some Chuck.

Short for the C position, but heard he can play post D with the elites.

We have the mini-MLE at $2.5 mil, but you have to think that SAC, who desperately needs height after missing out on Dalembert, will outbid us with their piles of cap space.

Hayes doesn't equal height... but I know what you mean

I'm pretty sure that Hoiberg was never cleared to play again though.

OJ Mayo is one of the best defenders in the league, hes a two way player and hes a great passer and playmaker.

Fail to see the direct connection between Hayes and Taylor's own heart issues, and doubt that Taylor does either. I'm guessing he leaves this call to Kahn and Adelman.

Thanks for sharing that Shrink. Doesn't it seem weird that a player would sign a contract, have a medical scare, and THEN get more money be re-signing? Process probably shouldn't work like that. Maybe the wolves renewed interest is the thing driving up the price.

I like our frontcourt, but if you can replace Darko or Pekovic w/ Hayes, its a significant upgrade. Skillwise, its foggy, but bottom line is he's a plus player

Hayes would still be a welcome addition. He's a really good passer and defender, and a solid rebounder. I'd be okay with getting rid of Darko for him as well....

Well, it's official. Oh well.

"Hayes' four-year deal is worth $22.4 million -- more than $1 million more than the $21.3 million contract that was voided on Monday, according to a news release provide by the firm that represents Hayes."
