Or for the next 8 weeks for that matter.
MINNEAPOLIS --- Grizzlies forward Zach Randolph will miss up to eight weeks after magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) revealed that he suffered a slight tear of the medial collateral ligament in his right knee, sources with knowledge of the situation told The Commercial Appeal.
The injury will not require surgery and doctors will re-evaluate Randolph in two weeks.
Randolph was believed to only have a bruised MCL. He did not travel with the team for its road game tonight against the Minnesota Timberwolves. He remained in Memphis and is wearing a knee brace.
Randolph suffered the injury after teammate O.J. Mayo inadvertently fell into his legs during the Grizzlies’ 40-point loss Sunday at Chicago. Randolph left the game with a minute left in the first quarter and he didn’t return.
Last season, Randolph missed four games after suffering a deep tailbone bruise in the season-opener.

Mike Conley also day-to-day. Haven't seen if he's likely to play tonight yet.

Did he get reinjured last night?

He did in limited minutes. I'm assuming he plays, but they're probably easing him back in.

This month we play two games against Memphis without Z-Bo and we're not going to have to worry about Manu Ginobili on the 27th.

Not that it is the same situation but Barea is list as day to day and he sat out one game, played 16min the next, then sat out the one after. Hopefully the Grizz think we will be easy to beat and rest Conley.

I'm guessing they have been paying attention and won't be thinking that right now.

8 weeks? Man - maybe they'll have to do something about their size.
Do you think they'd consider reducing the protection on their pick in exchange for size?

In addition to adding Speights?

JJ shouldn't have played that night. His let his heart over-rule his head in that one as he obviously wasn't healthy enough yet. And yeah, unless a team has been living under a rock the first couple of weeks of the season, I don't see anyone thinking we will be easy to beat right now.

This isn't an automatic win for us. They still have a #1 option in Gay when they lost their #1 option in Z-BO.
I really want this win tonight with the thrashing they gave us last year, especially when Marc Gasol hit that 3

I'm not going to say that for any game this year.

True, i'm actually really worried about the Cavs game after this.
Anyway,
Love has been held in check in eight career games against the Grizzlies, averaging 13.4 points and 9.4 rebounds - his lowest rebounding mark against any Western Conference opponent.

It would be tempting to run out a big frontcourt at them all night, but we have to be able to cover Gay. I don't think missing Randolph will hurt them as much as people think.

I don't see a big need to change the lineup that we have been rolling with, but I would certainly try Love/Williams/Beas for stretches to see how it works.

Randolph used to be a really tough match up for Love. Now that Love is in better shape I don't think Randolph would give him nearly as much trouble if he was playing.
