Player Comparison and Ceiling Thread

I thought this might be fun and interesting. The lack of effort and current severe weaknesses some players are showing leads me to pick a few Wolves and give my two cents on what I think their ceiling could be.

Beasley - Corey Maggettee without the ability to get to the line and make free throws, yet a slightly better scorer and long distance shooter. Beasley has also shown more glimpses at better defense, but it comes and goes.

Wes - At this point I agree with Jim Pete and am hoping for a rich mans Bruce Bowen. Give 100%, Hit 3's, play lockdown defense, quit smiling, and don't make mistakes. Wes also has the athletic ability to soar way above these expectations, but the drive and BBIQ are lacking right now.

Rubio - Some strange combo of Rondo and Nash, without being as poor as their respective weaknesses. (Better shooter than Rondo, Better defense than Nash, etc.)

Love - At this rate...WILT. Nuff said.

I'm having a hard time doing this with Derrick Williams, so maybe someone can help me out on him and other Wolves?

Derrick Williams.... Maybe he could be Antonio McDyess before he got hurt?

Williams to me is a cross between Shawn Marion and Chris Webber. Make sense? And although he never played in the NBA, his game reminds me of Len Bias from Maryland.

Malcolm Lee - Better shooting but not quite as good defending Tony Allen

If he can play like the Tony Allen that carved us up and didn't miss, I'd be ecstatic.

Wes's potential is more like a current day Bruce Bowen.

Rubio - Nash's court vision, Jason Williams's flare, and Rondo's pesky defense with a touch of Iverson's risky passing lane dominance. Same old comparisons.

Wes - Battier during his second Grizzlies tenure. It's not like Wes takes advantage of his athleticism and his only role on offense should be shooting 3s or cutting for easy shots at the rim.

Beasley - I still hope Beasley can become more like Jamison rather than a poor man's Melo.

Williams - I liked wesleysnipes comparison of Williams to Pierce in another thread. He appears to have the same body type - looks slow but is actually athletic. Last night he really reminded me of Pierce when he was driving to the basket. He looked out of control swaying from one side to the other but he got where he wanted to be and was able to finish. I have not seen enough of him to judge his defense.

Love - This one is hard. With his post game improving his offense is starting to remind me of Rasheed during his Pistons days. Maybe a mix of Rasheed and Brad Miller's offense with Rodman's rebounding.
