MIN - NOH - LAL

Okafor + Ariza would help our team, but they get paid $63 mil over three years. At $21 mil/season, we arguably don't have the bad contracts to make a fair trade for our side. Perhaps if we made it a three-way, and sent an over-priced two-year deal to OKC in the $5-6 mil range (Luke Walton, maybe?), it'd be better.
After NOH trades the MIN pick for value ..
NOH GETS: Miller + Webster + Pekovic + Walton + LAL 1st
NOH GIVES: Okafor + Ariza
MIN GETS: Okafor + Ariza + DAL 1st
MIN GIVES: Miller + Webster + Pekovic
LAL GETS: $5.6 mil TPE
LAL GIVES: Walton + LAL 1st + DAL 1st
WHY FOR NOH? Deal saves about $15 mil, they get a 1st, and improve their NOH 1st.
WHY FOR MIN? Pay to upgrade, plus pick up DAL 1st.
WHY FOR LAL? Selling picks to move Walton would save $25 mil over next two years

LOL! You're right - I'll change it.
I guess I was thinking OK-afor, OK-afor, OK-afor!
The more you're here, the more you'll get used to me messing up like this! Thanks!

So what happened to the theory that NOLA won't help us improve because of the draft pick stuff?

I like the outline of this a lot. Think LAL would want to have something inbound set up and personally would rather give up someone other than Webster for the Wolves, depending on how he looks after coming back from injury. I know he has partially guaranteed contract, but could be a decent young/veteran fit here hitting corner 3's for $5mm/season. Maybe swap Ellington for Web and enhance value with a 2nd rounder.

I think I'd try to do a deal just for Okafor and leave Ariza out. I looked at Ariza as an option at the beginning of the year and my conclusion was he struggled under Adelman.

Would it make you both happy if I took Webster and Ariza out of the deal?
We'd probably be the ones getting the LA pick, not the DAL pick.

Makes me happy. Right now, I'd rather add cash, 2nd rounder, etc than Webster. Get Okafor for cap relief and keep other assets that can consolidate into a legit ballhandling wing.
