NJ, Memphis in talks. Timberwolves need to get in this.

We might be the best third team in the league as far as trades go. Let's jump in this deal and find a way to get Mayo and give NJ/Memphis what they need.
Jersey wants cap for Howard. Memphis probably wants talent and picks. What could we put together to get Mayo here and facilitate a deal?

We can offer a back-up big like Tolliver, Randolph, Pekovic. A guard like Ellington, their pick back ('13 Memphis 1st).
I think we'd be able to put a better offer together than New Jersey.

MIght as well offer Wes. If we get Mayo he's not going to play at all once Barea and Webster are healthy.

I'm sure New Jersey will want cheap contracts or expirings if they are looking to sign Dwight this off-season so perhaps but if it is a straight deal for Mayo we should be able to beat their offer. I wouldn't be opposed to a three-way trade though. Trade-checker isn't up, which is my go-to, otherwise I'd mess around putting a deal together.

NJN could use Beasley even more than Mayo, and I riff on Turnover's trade on the Trade Board. I think there are many similarities between the two, but Beasley > Mayo in the differences. Using the pieces NJN has apparently offered for Mayo, we could upgrade for them:
MIN GETS: Mayo + pick
MIN GIVES: Beasley + Tolliver
NJN GETS: Beasley
NJN GIVES: Morrow + pick
MEM GETS: Morrow + Tolliver
MEM GIVES: Mayo
MIN gets a better fitting scorer and a pick, and unclogs for Derrick Williams
NJN gets a better piece for a Dwight trade, with siilar salary cap implications
MEM gets a replacement for Morrow, plus some pro size replacements for bigs (ZBo and Arthur)

Two issues I see:
1) For us, I'd be a little worried about this leaving Johnson and Webster as our only SF's.
2) More problematic, for Memphis, they're right on the cusp of the lux tax line. They'll want to shed about $500K (or whatever it is?) and I believe this does the opposite and puts them deeper into the lux. So Memphis would probably prefer to do Morrow for OJ straight up and leave Tolliver out.

Good feedback. We can take back Sam Young or Josh Davis, MEM's choice, and solve both problems.

Mayo is a knee jerk trade. Guy will get paid next summer, we don't need that, not really even sure how well he'd fit with Rube. Morrow is one dimensional and we'll have a whole new list of things to complain about if we end up with him. I'd rather take a one year trial on Ray Allen than a Mayo rental.
Nothing to be gained here from either of these teams when a week from now we could have all hands on deck and see what the ship really looks like. We have a glut of bigs with at least a little value (if only as cap relief) we could trade for the backcourt help we actually need when we see what we have. Maybe Webster can hold down the SG position and we really need a good SF? Would allow Wes to play backup SF and us to be in a good position to deal Beasley.

We talked with a MEM fan, who said that the team has holes it needs to fill. They also have the problem of being just over the lux, and having a team with unproductive salary on board putting them there.

If that's your package, what you get in return needs to be under $8,134,175 ($8.5 - $0.4)

If Darko was gone, MIN would need to look for some help at center (Okafor?), but you can't argue with the price. They've maintained their assets (Beasley, MEM 1st) to make that trade by plugging the holes on the Griz.

I really don't think anyone on our roster besides Beasley can bring the scoring at the wing for us Mayo can. Webster, Lee, Barea, may be nice but they are back ups. We need an offensive punch we can rely on. If Mayo likes the fit I think we can come to a deal in the off-season.

Can you rely on Mayo offensively, though? He's so inconsistent.

I'm not sold on Mayo just due to my opinion that he cannot create well enough to get the minutes he'd expect to play and be happy here. RA is clearly tuned into the BB IQ veterans can bring ... I'm just not sold OJ can bring the IQ/ability to create.

Problem I see with getting involved with a trade for Mayo, Martin etc. is that is the end to the ability to sign Howard this off-season, I feel that if Howard makes it thru the deadline,,,Timberwolves have the greatest possibility leaving both Rubio & Love to play alongside Howard.

I think that is a fantastic opportunity for to sign a legitimate SG. Could have the role he wants and he hasn't in Grizz. Moreover, the price is reasonable.
