MIN - MEM - NJN

I've gotten some favorable feedback from different factions on versions of this before -- I think this one is the best yet!

MIN GIVES: Beasley + Tolliver
MIN GETS: Mayo + Arthur (inj) + HOU 1st

MEM GIVES: Mayo + Arthur (inj)
MEM GETS: Morrow + Petro + $0.4 mil cap space

NJN GIVES: Morrow + Petro + HOU 1st
NJN GETS: Beasley + Tolliver

Why for MIN? Some people advocate Beasley for Mayo, but I think Beasley is a little better, and we deserve an additional trade asset. By taking on whatever's left of Darrell Arthur's $2 mil salary, we effective buy the HOU 1st cheap.

Why for MEM? Supposedly MEM has been going back and forth on whether to trade Mayo for Morrow straight up. They gain additional incentive by sending out the injured Arthur (who supposedly is not part of the Grizz future anymore) to effectively fill their need for a back-up center position for only $1.3 on Petro. Also, they cut $0.4 mil from the deal, which should be just enough to slide them under the lux, and save them about $4 million dollars.

Why for NJN? They want Mayo for his offense this year and the chance to make his deal disappear next year if they need to. Beasley is an even better fit. NJN is desperate at SF, with two SF's down, and the remaining DeShawn Stevenson playing on a wonky knee. Moreover, this deal moves Petro's salary off the books in 2012. With Petro and Morrow off the books, and no risk of cap hold from the HOU pick, this gives them enough room to sign Dwight Howard, keep Deron and Brook Lopez, and pay for wherever their lottery pick lands.

EDIT: Included Tolliver

I would be fine with either Mayo or Morrow!

1) Wolves would have to waive a player for the trade to work. I thought the way the rules work is that a player would have to be waived before the trade could work and we can't just waive Darrell Arthur and go from 16 to 15 -- but correct me if I'm wrong here.

2) The value seems off to me. Mayo is playing well. Beasley hasn't played well for a while now. I think the Houston first should be left out completely. Moreover, NJ very well could be rebuilding after this year and thus that pick might have more value to them than the other teams in this trade.

You're right about the first point. After their first three seasons, I'd expect more from Beasley the rest of the way than Mayo. Perhaps sending Tolliver to NJN makes thing look better?

I also had the same question for NJN on whether they'd want to pick or the cap space. So far, it sounds like they think the cap space is more valuable.

I think NJ would cut out MN, take the Memphis players, and save their pick here.

^^ But that doesn't fix NJN's gaping hole at SF.

Marshon Brooks is starting at SG, so getting Mayo used to be a nice addition, but not if it benches Brooks so that DeShawn Stevenson can be your starter. They'd get nothing from Arthur, who's out for the season. NJN needs to win enough games that they make sure to not disgust Deron Williams before they know if they can get Dwight Howard to come.

I don't think it's worth a decent first to plug the SF for the rest of a worthless season. I'd just play Brooks at SF or call up a D-Leaguer.

Maybe expand the deal to include Sam Young.

Morrow + Petro + James for Mayo + Young + Arthur
