Boston's fire sale.....

People have been talking about Ray Allen....but I'd rather have Pierce. Yes he's overpaid...but with his contract it won't take much.
Webster, Beasley, and Miller for Pierce?
Anyone interested in that?

I'd be willing to add the Mem and Utah picks to that offer. Today he showed he still has it.
I saw a few ppl mention that he has a NTC but I never saw any proof of it. Anyone know for sure? When I looked I only saw Kobe and Dirk having that clause.

He's still got it, but will he have it for 2 more years after this one at $16 mil per?
I can see the argument either way, but I wouldn't be heartbroken to add those picks either.
And I have no idea about his trade clause.

Pierce comes off as a guy that would demand a trade or threaten to retire if he was traded here.

I was thinking of adding Pierce too because it could potentially lure Allen or Garnett in free agency.

I'd love a swap of:
Williams, Beasley, Webster, Miller, Memphis '13 1st, '12 Utah 1st
for
Pierce, Allen
Rubio/Barea
Allen/Ellington
Pierce/Johnson
Love/Tolliver/Randolph
Milicic/Pekovic

I think he will continue to age well and that what he adds to the team would be worth the 16mil. If we had key players that needed to be extended soon I would be more worried about it.

I wouldn't do that one even tho I like the roster after the trade. Allen would probably leave after one year so I don't want to trade for him.

He doesn't have a NTC
http://espn.go.com/nba/dailydime/_/page/dime-120120-22/team-usa-roster-london-olympicsPierce was eligible for a no-trade clause in his latest contract with the Celtics, just like Nowitzki, but Boston held firm in withholding one as part of a four-year deal worth in excess of $60 million bestowed on the 34-year-old in July 2010.
Clink the link for the entire list of NTC players. There's a pretty interesting article on the USA roster too.

Generally, I am anti signing/trading for any guards/wings who are over 30. Players tend to fall off like rocks after 32 or so and it can be very short lived. I wouldn't give up too much for Pierce as I don't see us being a playoff threat for 2-3 years.

Allen for cheap? yeah... he is the perfect fit right now, the best shooter, coldblooded in clutch, would be even more amazing with rubio that he is with rondo, and he is a great lockerroom vet.
Pierce???? huh, first, i hope he retires as a celt, whatever team(a lot worse scenario if the team is a "bad" team) gets him in a trade, would receive an awful contract, pissed player, who is great when is motivated but is TERRILE when not, who will have his mind out of here, won't add anything good in the chemistry side... and also won't be as cheap as Ray ray. NO THANKS.

They are waaaay to old to be giving guys like Williams up for, you don't trade the second pick in the draft for guys in their mid 30's. Pierce is a worse trade then Pau...
Boston is 6 and 9 with Allen, Pierce, Rondo and KG. Replacing Rondo and KG with Love and Rubio isn't going to make us better, if they can't do it there, why could they here?
How would we be better? Especially after we give them Williams, Beas, Webster and our picks.
Just a nutty idea. Why are we supposed to give Boston and/or LA young talent? Let them crash and burn

We shouldn't mortgage our future to slow their fall.
Pierce
Oct 13, 1977
Allen
July 20, 1975
Williams
May 25, 1991
Allen for Miller and AR I'd do.

absolute worst trade I've ever seen. seriously? lets trade half our roster for 2 old guys who won't even be great in 2 years when our young guys are ready to compete

Interesting, but they are just too old. Regarding the pos for Pierce + Ray Allen, I don't think you could trade Derrick Williams, both for a value reason, and because you need him to replace your old guy in a couple years.
Is that right? Derrick Williams is 16 years younger than Ray Allen? Wow.

Really Derrick Williams is the only one of note we are trading. Beasley is likely gone at the end of the year, same with Webster & Miller. The Memphis 1st will likely be in the 20's next year and the Utah pick could be decent, but also may not be. So it basically boils down to:
Williams for Pierce and Allen. I don't think that is the "Absolute worst trade." Besides its no guarantee that Williams will be an all-star. Sure he has flashed potential to be, but so has Anthony Randolph. I'm not saying we must do this trade but it would be interesting.

Minnesota really would have to slow it down if they added Pierce, Allen, or Garnett (aged 34, 36, and 35 respectively). Those guys would go from a team ranked 28th in pace to a team ranked 11th.
I was looking at reasons why the Celtics are not winning since we want to be sure we're not rebuilding the same Celtics who are struggling to make the playoffs in the East. The Celtics biggest problems right now are rebounding (especially offensive boards) and depth. Those two things really are not issues for Minnesota at all.
Now would Garnett would finish his career in Minnesota if we landed Pierce? Garnett has a home in Minnesota, Pierce would be in Minnesota, Boston would be rebuilding, and Garnett has his ring. If there was only a way to land Allen and Pierce without trading Williams, Love, or Rubio.

It would probably take adelman another month to evaluate talent with that group...
