Baynos of the Game

Post#1 » by Klomp » Tue Jan 24, 2012 3:29 am

This is a new feature on RealGM Wolves, suggested by shrink. Vote for the three best players of the game (thereby giving the biggest Baynos). Each poster can nominate a Gold Bayno, Silver Bayno, and Bronze Bayno.

Example:

Gold Bayno: Kevin Love - His scoring is the only reason we were in tonight's game.

Silver Bayno: Luke Ridnour - An under-the-radar 17/8 game

Bronze Bayno: Anthony Randolph: Brought some good energy in his limited time. I liked his hustle going after the loose ball in the final minutes.

What say you?

Gold Bayno - Love...no explanation needed
Silver Bayno - Ridnour...despite a few chucked shots in the fourth he played a pretty solid game offensively
Bronze Bayno - Derrick Williams...you can tell he's giving a lot of effort and even when he's making mistakes, they're aggressive mistakes (which I'm ok with for a rookie)

I also wanted to put Williams as I love his aggressiveness and the success will come in time if he keeps it up, he just should've made one or two more of those...

Gold Bayno: nobody
Silver Bayno: Love
Bronze Bayno: nobody

Even though Love had 40, he had some costly plays when we were still in it. I also think Adelman needed to play Pek a little more. I don't like Love at center. They got so many shots at the rim. Also Rick is part of the reason we got back in it but he was also one of the reasons we got back out once he got tired and frustrated. The beginnings of each game are just killing us. The defensive intensity and teamwork isn't there to start each game and then we also can shoot. I think tonight we saw how the team is just tired of having to fight their way back into games after halftime.

I like the idea, but there should be another single award for the worst Wolves' player of the game as well. I suggest it may be called a Black Bayno, or Anti-Bayno as some other posters have called it, but I'm open to any other suggestions.

Gold Bayno: Kevin Love - The difference between a 15 point game and a 30 point game. (Shockingly had a -14 though)

Silver Bayno:Luke Ridnour - Shot the ball well and made some decent passes, although his defense at times were bad.

Bronze Bayno: Anthony Randolph - Had a couple highlights, but also some mistakes. He's able to slide in at bronze.

Black Bayno: Wayne Ellington - In 33 minutes, he only scored 4 points, while picking up 4 fouls as well as having a -17.

I take offense to Black-Bayno as a Black Boner is no less worthy than any Boner of any other color.

Anyway, today no Bayno's for me. More like blue balls.

Can you get blue balls without a Bayno at some point?

Gold - Love. There really was no other choice. He's forcing his offense right now due to us really having no other scoring options.

Silver - Randolph. The team seem to play with the most energy while he was in. The tempo was up and he was involved in virtually every play. He makes a couple of really stupid plays every game, but the number of good plays he makes so vastly outnumbers Darko that I don't get why we just won't use him.

Bronze - Williams. We aren't playing for a title and we have no SF that is healthy. Why isn't he playing 38 minutes a night during this stretch? Let him make mistakes and learn.

Anti-Bayno - Ellington. He couldn't even remotely guard Martin, turned it over on offense and couldn't hit the ocean with his shot.

Gold - Love's offense

Silver - Randolph - appreciated the hustle, even if it's too much and he's out of control.

Bronze - Luke -- not sure where this team would be without his offense. Other than Kevin, he's the only guy that consistently makes shots.

Limp-Bayno - Love's defense. Not getting back in transition and not rotating or contesting shots to stop easy layups.

So I wasn't here for this new feature introduction. I assume we are going to keep a running tally of players with the most Baynos. Yes? Maybe? If so, are we going to have one winner each week or tally players with gold, silver, bronze, and black Baynos?

What the Charlotte board did, which is the inspiration for the Baynos, is this

Points
Gold Hammer (3) = best player of the game
Silver Hammer (2) = second best player of the game
Bronze Hammer (1) = third best player of the game

Player with the most points gets a gold hammer, player with the second most points get a silver hammer and the player with the third most points gets a bronze hammer. In the event of a tie, both players will be awarded the higher hammer for win and the lower hammer for losses. If two players tie for a bronze in a loss, only the gold and silver will be awarded (I just cant justify 4 hammers for a loss).

Gold Hammer = 3pts
Silver Hammer = 2pts
Bronze Hammer = 1pt

Here are the results for the Rockets game

Gold Bayno: Kevin Love - 8g, 1s = 26 pts
Silver Bayno: Luke Ridnour - 5s, 1b = 11 pts
Bronze Bayno: Anthony Randolph - 2s, 4b = 8 pts

Black Bayno: Wayne Ellington

Premature Baynos, but this one is over

Gold Bayno: Love
Silver Bayno: Pek (although I'd like to give it to Pek/Darko)
Bronze Bayno: Ricky

Black Bayno: No one really, but I'll say Randolph

edit: didn't mean to give out bathrooms
