MIN - PHX - POR

Post#1 » by shrink » Sat Jan 28, 2012 3:37 am

I thought I'd bring this interesting one over from the trade board:

N.O.R.E. wrote:Wolves Trade: Derrick Williams, Webster
Receive: Batum, Wes Mathews, 2012 lotto protected Blazers 1st

the Wolves would then offer the following for Bogut: Wes Johnson, Ellington, the '12 Blazers 1st, and the Grizz and Jazz 1sts, B.Miller's expiring

Bogut/Darko/Pek
Love/A.Randolph/Tolliver
Batum/Beasley
Wes Mathews/Barea/Lee
Rubio/Ridnour/Barea

That team is pretty damn good now and if it reaches it's full potential the whole damn league would be put on notice.

Suns Trade: Gortat, Nash, Grant Hill
Receive: Derrick Williams, Felton (EC), Webster (EC), + other small insignificant filler

R.Lopez/Frye
D-Will/Morris/Warrick
Dudley/Chill
Brown/Webster/Redd
Felton/Telfair

The Suns get a pretty damn good rebuilding package, with a fresh #2 pick and decent expiring role-players.

Blazers Trade: Felton, Wes Mathews, Batum, 2012 lotto protected 1st, Babitt + other small crappy filler
Receive: Gortat, Nash, G. Hill

Gortat/Camby/Oden
Aldridge/C.Smith
G.Wallace/G.Hill
Crawford/vet min/E.Williams
Nash/Armon Johnson/N.Smith

The Blazers upgrade two key positions and would have a decent shot at making the finals.

We need to consolidate. Trades like this just shuffling similar players do nothing for me.

Williams doesn't have that kind of value.

In light of Bogut's injury I think his pricing just went down. That being said you would need to take one of the 1sts we were slated to give Milwaukee and shift it over to Phoenix.

I'm pretty cold on Bogut right now, so I'm not fully convinced that I even like the combo platter we offered them in this deal. That's a stiff contract for a guy that hasn't played more than 69 games in the past 4 years. Health aside, I can't help but wonder if I wouldn't rather have Darko and Pek and their 10M a year over Bogut's 13M a year and keep my picks and players. If you look at the numbers I'm not so sure that the total production is as big of a step up as it might seem.

The center isn't the hub of the deal. Insert Okafor if you'd rather.

I'm curious if Wolves fans would accept this return:

MIN GIVES: Derrick Williams, Webster
MIN GETS: Batum, Wes Mathews, 2012 lotto protected Blazers 1st

Yes.
