Game 1 vs Kings - http://www.nba.com/games/20120116/SACMI ... GIboxscore

Kings - 2-11 on the road
Wolves - 6-8 @ home

Note: This game will be on FSN

Probable Starters:
PG: Ricky Rubio
SG: Luke Ridnour
SF: Wes Johnson
PF: Derrick Williams/Michael Beasley
C: Nikola Pekovic

VS

PG: Tyreke Evans
SG: Marcus Thorton
SF: John Salmons
PF: Jason Thompson
C: Demarcus Cousins

Key Matchup:

The Rapist
Image

The Egoist
Image

- Seriously, Demarcus Cousins is a good player, we need to contain him and keep him off the glass and out of the paint. He is also a pretty decent play maker, so limit his vision to cutters and on rolling situations.

Keys to the game:

Win the rebounding battle - We won the rebounding battle by 1 (38-37) last game, could have gone either way, but the Wolves are 9-5 when we tie or out rebound our opponent so lets get it!

Lead after 3 quarters - Wolves are 10-2 after having a lead or tied after the 3rd quarter. If we have a respectable lead after the 3rd quarter, good things are sure to happen. We are 2-10 when we trail.

Keep the Kings under 100 points and under 45% FG - Wolves are 10-5 when holding their opponents under 100 points or under 45% shooting for the game. Last game, we held them to 86 points on 44.3% shooting. The Kings last 5 games, they had scoring totals of:

Kings vs Nuggets - 122- 93 L

I think this is winnable without Love. Got to go to Pek in the post and force Cousins into foul trouble, though.

I'm so glad we're deep as hell at the PF position, look for AR to suit up.

Williams/Beasley/AR and *gulp*, Tolliver

i like our chances against Sacramento and Memphis without Love. Also more playing time for Williams is going to be really good for his development and confidence.

I would have felt a little comfortable coming into this game, but without Love, one of our fowards (I'm looking at you Derrick, Randolph, and Michael) needs to step up considerably for us to win. I'm still hoping Williams starts. For the Memphis game though? Just pencil that in as a loss.

Don't forget we never won a single game without Love last year. We will see what happens this year.

Don't be so pesimistic m8, Memphis is playing really bad lately, we will have our chance, i have no doubt about it (i'm a Memphis fan too :) ).

This could be a big turnaround for the team. If they win both of these (I'm particularly skeptical about Memphis) without Love, it would be a huge boost.

Very interesting to see who gets the most minutes at PF. Randolph, probably.

Hopefully Beas has a big game. Look for him to shoot early and often. My enduring concern for this team is that Beasley will need to be consistent for us to succeed. How he handles the pressure of not having Batman around will be telling indeed.

I hope Williams starts and Randolph gets a lot of minutes backing him up. AR has been in street clothes the last few games. Hopefully with Love out, he'll get back on the court.

And I agree about Beasley. I think we'll win or lose a significant number of games depending on Beasley's play from here on out. If he's making his shots and playing team ball, we'll be successful. If he's missing shots and/or being his usual black-hole self, we'll lose more often than not.

It will be interesting to see how Rubio plays without Love. I'm completely sure that Williams/Randolph will get huge numbers.

Williams better step up and play well after that twitter complaining. We still have decent chance to win these games. Might be nice fr love to get these 5 or 6 days off.

Give the minutes to Williams and AR. We got depth, let's see it in big time action.

It will be interesting to see if AR gets minutes. He seems firmly implanted in Adelman's doghouse right now, racking up some "healthy scratches". I'd like to see Williams start to see what he can do with Rubio and not thinking about if/when he will play. Have Beasley backup both forward positions.
