Why for Minnesota- they trade youth and potential for a solid playoff team.
Why for New Orleans- this is what a rebuild should look like.
Why for Golden State- basically they cash out Monta Ellis for a good big (who they can resign for cheaper next year), cap space, and a couple of picks in a deep draft. It fills one hole while making another.....but ads cap space and picks to help fill the G hole with.

I'd do it easily. Not sure if GSW thinks they can make the playoffs yet or not though. Ariza would be our starting SF, Beasley 6th man.

I think GSW would only do it if in the deadline they're far away from the POs. As in, we need a change if we want to do something.

No way New Orleans does this.

You have to ask yourself what New Orleans wants right now. They want young, inexpensive players or expiring contracts to make it as financially appealing as possible for a new owner. I can see them being interested in Derek Williams, but would a potential owner really be interested in taking on the contracts of Monta Ellis and Darko while having less flexibility to step in and immediately change things??? Absolutely not.

I think NOH steals value in the deal.

Williams would clearly be valuable to them. Monta Ellis is $33 mil over the next 3 years .. probably a little less than Eric gordon will get. EG is worth more, but Monta is only 26 and can still be a better ticket-selling show than Gordon.

Moreover, they get to dump that Ariza contract.

GSW isn't gonna be sold on 2 picks that may neither be top 10. While Kaman is usable now, both Kaman and Kwame expire and I suspect GSW thinks Brown is a better match with Lee than Kaman.
Also is gonna be less $.

If the picks look better than I expect, at seasons end, a twist could be to skip Kaman + Kwame, send AR back to GSW. However...then there's probably some salary complications. GSW has better wings. Ellington would be unwanted.

i don't know which Ariza the OP is looking at. He sure is variable,and i'd see Beas as the regular, Ariza a 6th man.

Mostly...GSW really wants to keep Ellis. I also think Minny expects Williams to be more than what you have seen so far. Another point is that with all three teams in the West...each will be cautious,thinking about how this plays out 2-3 yr later.
