Not trading Rubio is NOT an option, you have to chose one.

I can say this; there's clearly no serious advantage for Rondo in any meaningful area besides finishing at the rim. Rubio also struggles on his longer two-pointers (for now), but he's a better 3pt shooter and a considerably better FT shooter as well. They're similar in their capacity to make plays, but Rubio is bigger and has that advantage. Rebounding is not a concern for the Wolves, but Rubio's pretty solid in that respect as well and defensively, well, little need be said there.
There isn't a huge advantage to be gained by grabbing Rondo, or really any tangible advantage. There is the possibility that teams will sag off of Rajon and pack the paint however, which is undesirable. So I'm not seeing that as a positive aspect of that trade. For some of those other guys, like Paul and Rose, on the other hand, well, they're obviously more advanced in terms of their ability to score and Paul in particular replicates a lot of what Rubio brings on the help defense side of things.
Still, when you consider contracts and age, I can't really look at any of those guys as huge upgrades even when you factor in scoring as a variable. I think someone like Rose, Paul or Deron would be an instant lift to the team offense with their scoring ability, because that's exactly the type of player missing from this team (a dynamic perimeter scorer) but given Love and whatever Pek brings, Rubio, maybe moving Beasley for someone less awful, they don't really need to move the motor of their offense, you know? I doubt it'd help all that much. I realize the OP isn't suggesting a trade, but Minny is developing pretty well at this point. Once they quit hanging onto the Beez and Darko, this team is going to take off.
EDIT: More so than they already are, I mean.
