LAL/Hou/Min

Saw this on RubeChat and thought it was worth discussing here...

Houston
Out: Scola / Martin
In: Gasol / Ellington

LAL
Out: Gasol
In: Beasley/Ridnour/Scola

Minnesota
Out: Beasley / Ridnour / Ellington
In: Martin

Maybe add the memphis 1st to LAL, but otherwise, I think the value looks spot on.

Pek (32) / Love (10) / Milicic (6)
Love (28) / Williams (20)
Johnson (24) / Webster (24)
Martin (36) / Lee (12)
Rubio (32) / Barea (16)

Use Williams/Johnson / Pick / Cap space (if any) to upgrade SF... (Batum)

Ha!

Pretty sure Rube Chat got that idea from ESPN's message board.

I would do it and I think so would HOU, but LAL would be a harder sell. Theyve never been a team to really covet draft picks either so I cant imagine they give two rips about a mid first

I really like that deal for us, and for HOU, but I don't think the LAL would consider it. Beas/Scola isn't Pau. Adding Ridnour isn't the kicker.

Yes. Houston and us can sweeten the pot for LA a bit.

If there's any Beasley deal, this is the one I'm ok with. (Although I would rather keep Beasley and use Williams to get a SG.)

I'm just not getting the Martin thing ... he can hit some shots, but he'd hurt us defensively. If we want playoff success, we gotta be solid both ends of the floor. Dont waste assets on limited players

You realize that our current starting SG is Luke Ridnour, right?

And if not Martin, then who? What better defensive shooting guards that can also be counted on to hit shots and occasionally create for themselves do you think are available? And of those available guys, how many can we get for as cheap as we can likely get Martin for (mostly expirings)?

That might be true but the move gets them closer out of cap hell. As a Rocket fan I would say yes to the deal but I would rather have Randolph or Tolliver.

Personally, I'd rather target Courtney Lee than Martin.

Laker fan coming in peace... Although there are merits to the deal, Lakers don't covet Scola or Ridnour... If Houston wants Gasol, it starts and ends with Lowry, very simple... If not, the Lakers will pick up Sessions or Arenas and play out the season (currently in 5th seed)... Although we aren't favored to win this year, I am not sure there is a team i the West that wants to play us in the first round... Gasol is still a top 5 center in the league...

By the way, Rubio & Love will be a solid foundation for years... Good luck...

Problem is McHale likes him more than Martin and the reason for moving Martin is to have his contract cleared and give Lee the starting spot and/or more playing time than he's getting currently. You'd have to throw something real nice at them to move Lee over Martin. At least that's how I think McHale is thinking. I'm not sure where Morey stands with Martin or their assets. I've heard they overrate and ask for a lot.
