Edit: Switched from Utah/Memphis 1sts leaving Minnesota to all draft picks leaving from Cleveland. I know they get a really good deal but they also help facilitate better value to Portland so we can get Batum/Matthews.

That is even worse than the previous one for the Blazers, and the first one was worth of death penalty.
The only way you get Batum would be with Derrick heading towards Portland and i'm not even sure the Blazers woould do that.

I don't see us doing any wholesale deals like that. Why blow up the entire team again? We only need to get an average SG, so we could just trade one of our average players to get that. I could see maybe a two-for-one deal. I don't think the team can ever grow if we keep changing out 6+ players every season.

I will strongly disagree with you on this point. Blaz don't need DWill with LMA and what they need is depth at PG. So any trade with Wolves (DWill) and Blaz (Batum) needs to involve a third team who has a quality PG to offer Blaz in return for DWill.

Do you really think that Augustine + crap is enough value back for Batum and Mathews? At least give us Pekovic or something.

Why would we feel the need to send DW ot Portland in any deal to acquire Batum? ... they do not have that much value placed on him or they would have extended him already.

I think you need to look at DJ's production before making that incorrect statement. And his numbers are on a poor team and splitting PT with Kemba (plus 3 years younger and cheaper contract-for now).

Plus Blaz are in a bind when it comes to draft picks-due to owing 2013 pick...they could use, and value, 1st rd picks more then the next team.

Plus as others have stated...Blaz actions speak very loud with their view of Batum. Not only did they not get an extension done, but no real offer was made.

So again, DJ, Wes (still valuable due to upside and potential) and 1st rd picks is a nice return for Batum and Matthews.

Batum's cap hold is very low, around $5 mil. Reports are that the Blazer were offering $7mil per and Batum's camp wanted $9mil. By not signing him to a $9mil contract right now the Blazers will have an extra $4million in cap room this summer with the ability to let the market set Batum's salary. Seeing as how Batum has really stepped his game up I imagine the market will go up to $10mil per or more this summer. It was a calculated risk by the Blazers, but even if they have to pay a little extra this summer they have given themselves the extra salary cap space.

I do not think the Blazers have any interest in trading Batum and, with the exception of the obvious 2, there's nothing on the Wolves that makes sense. In terms of a three team deal that would send Batum to Minnesota and Williams to another team, there would have to a very good piece coming back. I don't think the upgrade from Felton to Augustin would be close to enough.
