Hi Wolves Fans. Congrats on the season, as you guys have come out the gate in much better shape than previous years. The play of Love and Rubio must be a bright light which has been a gloomy couple of seasons.
I am interested in the play of Martell Webster. I have always been interested in his progress which has seemed to be hampered over the years with injuries. I think he has the capabilities to be a pretty good Sg/sf in the league and I was hoping for some more insight seeing as I don't follow Minny as much as you fans do. If you could help me with some more info on him, strengths, weaknesses, your take on his part on the team going forward. Any info on his growth would be greatly appreciated. I look forward to your analysis and wish you the best going forward. Thanks.

Solid on defense(actually tries hard on d), good rebounder, streaky shooter, average at best handle, but still can create his shot somewhat often.
He's been forced to play a lot of SG and his shot wasn't falling until the LAC game the other night. Last season he quietly had a very good year for us, hopefully his back problems are gone since he's had 2-3 surgeries since he's been here already.

Mediocre in every facet of the game ... if he could excel at something it would help him get more minutes now that he is supposedly healthy.
Flip response to Love wanting out, "He has no reason to be upset, you're either a part of the problem or a part of the solution"

Re: Player Evaluation: Martell Webster
It seemed to take him a while to get into game shape after coming back from his latest back surgury but it seems like he's finally finding a rhythm. With Webster, he'll give solid effort on the defensive end and he sometimes makes boneheaded decisions on offense, but his worth is really in his shooting ability. If he is knocking down shots he's a solid rotation player/borderline starter, but if his shot isn't falling, he doesn't do enough in other areas to overcome the poor shooting.

Re: Player Evaluation: Martell Webster
I often questions the decisions he makes and he has given us some real reasons to do so lately. Against Denver he dunked the ball with less than 5 seconds when we were down by three points. This was a costly mistake that can be directly pointed to as a reason you lost a game (part of the reason).
Earlier in the same game he passed up a wide open three to try and hit someone underneath and ended up throwing the ball out of bounds. This wasn't a huge mistake but it hints at the larger problem of unsound decision making.
Some people say he is a poor/average ball-handler, but I'd argue it is more about what he tries to do with the ball. It isn't as much a question of capability as much as it is opportunity. He makes passes that don't always need to be made and sometimes drives recklessly. These are heavy turnover situations that make him seem like a poor ball-handler.
I really think Martell gives a lot of effort and is a great team guy. It seems to me that his lack of college experience plays into his pro-level ability to think the game.

I'd much rather see him starting then Ridnour.

Better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to speak and to remove all doubt

I like him. His play has picked up recently and he always plays hard. He's nothing special, but a solid role player and good character guy has a place on any team, ours included.

There is something intriguing about his playing ability that makes me think he would be valuable part of my team (Raptors lol). Thank you all for your insights.

I've said it before:
Rubio/Webster/Johnson/Love/Pekovic
Barea/Ridnour/Beasley/Williams (add in Darko when necessary)
