Hey everyone,

So I know I seem like the newcomer on this board---

Check that, I AM the newcomer on this board, but I thought it would be fun to provide a nightly recap on the game, complete with letter grades and all. While not revised precisely, I thought it might be a fun read for whoever may be interested. Let me know what you think.

Kevin Love: A+

Love was excellent, there isn't much else to say. He came within 1 point of tying his career high, and grabbed 10 boards to post yet another double-double. What I found most impressive, however, was his field goal percentage. In going 15-27, he shot over 55% from the floor, and 62% on 3-point shots. He was the irrefutable star of the game tonight.

Ricky Rubio: B

One might expect a higher grade, but a second half collapse resulted in a something else. Through one half of play, Rubio recorded 11 assists. After that? 38 minutes on the court totaling 6 points, 12 assists and 2 steals. He shot a horrid 1-8 from the field while giving the ball away 4 times as well. Combining this tale of two Rubio's results in a solid B grade.

Nikola Pekovic: C+

Pekovic was his usual bullish self. Somehow, though, this did not translate into a solid performance. While Pekovic still had his (un)usual moments of glory, much of this was overshadowed by poor play calls and bad fouls. Pek was an excellent defender on LMA, but was more of a non-factor on the offensive end.

Luke Ridnour: C+

Ridnour was mostly invisible tonight, but I kind of like it that way. While not overtly energetic, Luke provided enough offense to warrant his spot at the SG position. 11 points may not seem spectacular, but when you combine that with 6 boards and an assist, it becomes somewhat adequate. Nothing much more to analyze here.

Wes Johnson: C

Wesley was 100% from the field... not a stat you see ever day. He also took a hardy two shots, did I mention that part?... Not much to note here. Two 3 point opportunities were served up on a silver platter, and he hit them. Other than that, he barely saw the floor.

Martell Webster: A

Webster was a huge spark off the bench tonight. He was virtually unstoppable. At this point, the back injury seems like ancient history. He was sinking shots like an anchor. More than that, he ripped down 8 boards and recorded a couple blocks. Web was seriously on point tonight.

Derrick Williams: B+

Per usual, DWill gave us flashes of potential. While a non-factor early in the game, Williams erupted late, giving us a monster dunk and awesome trick shot to help seal the deal. He also displayed his attitude as well, bringing a level of intensity you do not often see in a Wolves uniform.

J.J. Barea: B-

Barea was solid tonight, and nothing more. He hit the open shot, and provided some energy off the bench. Through 19 minutes his numbers weren't spectacular, but solid nonetheless.

Michael Beasley: C+

The beast was caged tonight. Not by the opponent, but by coach Adelman. With the minutes he was given, he scored 6 points on 3-5 shooting. No need for concern, however. The team was on fire tonight, and Adelman went with the hot hands.

I like it. Especially how the green grades match the old school logo.

This thread pleases me.

I think Ridnour and Barea deserve slightly higher grades. Ridnour actually played some pesky defense and you know its a good game when you don't notice his play! As far ass Barea, he was his usual pesky self and took some offensive fouls and generally irritated the Blazers primary ball-handlers. Pek also played a solid role in helping to keep LMA down the entire game.

I like reading your input. Perhaps a grading scale? Is C still average or is a B more like a solid, yet unspectacular game?

In my mind, a C is slightly below average. Not good, but not bad either. Just unspectacular. Not necessarily terrible, just unnoticeable for the most part. That is the beauty of this whole thing, my opinion isn't the "End-All" of arguments. The feedback is fun. People might agree, people will ALWAYS disagree. But like I said, this is the fun of it all. I post grades, and people admonish or diminish my opinion. It's sort of a test run.

We already have a game somewhat like this called "Baynos of the Game" where we grade players on the recent game by giving them a gold, silver, bronze, or black trophy.

Your system is more involved, though, and gives the fans more options to choose from. I like your ideas on how to improve this board, but having two grading systems would be a bit too much. We would have to get rid of one or the other.

I would retire the Baynos - I like looking at more than just 4 players on the roster each night......this game is the perfect example of why. Love was spectacular, Webster had his best game this year, Pek did a great job guarding LMA, Barea kept us close while we were falling apart in the 2nd, DWIll was awesome in the 2nd half, and Beasley looks like he wants the season to be over.....
