Next 5 Games [Games 39-43]

Post#1 » by pumunga » Sun Mar 4, 2012 8:50 pm

3/5 vs. Clippers - beat em both times in their house, they should be looking for revenge (L)
3/7 vs. Blazers - 'embarrassed' Portland in Portland just 4 days earlier, also looking for vengeance (L)
3/9 vs. Lakers - 0-2 vs LA this year, i just dont think we can beat a healthy Laker team (L)
3/10 vs. Hornets - Win
3/12 @ Suns - Win

As of today 19-19, 9th seed, 1.5 games behind denver for 8th seed. (spurs-nuggets tonight)

'We' need to win home games. 7 game road trip starts in Phoenix (11 of 13 games on road).

I'll be at the Lakers game, so we'll win. *trollface*

I think we beat either LAC or Portland though.

Have to win 3 of those games, but ideally 4. We have to start getting away from .500. That's just not going to be good enough for the playoffs. I'd say they beat the the Hornets, Suns, and Blazers. Then hopefully beat one of the LAs.

I think our grit tops the Clips flair.
I think Portland is in a freefall.
I think beating the Lakers would be the most shocking win of the season.
I think we better beat the Hornets and Suns.

3-2 with both losses to LA, but don't listen to me, I've been terrible at predicting in these threads.

I go 3-2, but it's virtually a given that we'll win one we shouldn't and lose one we shouldn't.

I'll say loss to the Clippers, win againt Portland, big win against the Lakers, then letdown game vs the Hornets on 2nd night of back to back, then a players-only meeting - except you Tolliver - and they rattle off 11 straight wins and Love makes the cover of SI, Rubio makes the cover of ESPN the mag, Beasley makes the cover of High Times, and Tolliver makes the cover of Christian Male Troll Quarterly

I think we can win all 5. Both LA's are bad on the road, Portland is falling apart, NO sucks and plays denver the night before we play them, Phoenix we should be able to beat if we are fresh at all. I think the Laker game is the biggest issue... I'll go with 4-1 to account for our team being young :)

Next 11 games 4 at home and 7 on the road ... 3-1 and 3-4 would be fine.

This. All 5 are winnable, and I'm going to say that we beat the Lakers because we'll be all pumped up and played so horrible last time.

There will be one other game in here that we'll lose just because we don't show up, though.

I really like that we have a game off between each of the next several games. M-W-F with Saturday being a somewhat favorable matchup against NO at home and then a day off before playing @Pho. With 7 straight road games coming up, it seems like this is our chance to make a playoff push if we're going to do it.

The clippers played last night in Houston. New Orleans plays us in a B to B after playing at Denver. Everyone else has a day off before playing us.

The optomist in me is saying 4-1 or 5-0, but I hope we take them one game at a time and don't look past anyone.

I'll be really impressed if we beat the Clippers for the 3rd time in a row...you know they'll be gunning for us hard after the last two losses.

It's really difficult to predict games this year.
It can be either 1-4 or 4-1 easily.

3/5 vs. Clippers (W) - 2-0 against them, they won last night in OT and the game is in Minnesota. I don't see a reason to be pesimistic.

3/7 vs. Blazers (W) - They are playing bad lately and the game in Portland was one of the few easy wins for the Wolves this season. Make them pay the 16-0 previous losing streak.

3/9 vs. Lakers (L) - Darko or lose. Pekovic is the best center of the team but Bynum is going to destroy the Wolves. I think Darko is the only chance to stop Lakers front court but I don't think Adelman changes the rotation.

3/10 vs. Hornets (W) - It's the game that Wolves can't afford to lose before a 7 game road trip. It's a must win.

3/12 @ Suns (W/L W/L W/L....) - It's almost impossible to predict. Wolves are better than the Suns and the last game was in a back to back to back, so with the team rested they should win, but since the All-Star the Suns are playing 9 of 11 games at home so it's the moment of the season where they have to prove they can be a playoff team or not so I don't know what to expect of this game.

Yes, but it's not like Love is an upgrade on defense. Gasol and Bynum have combined for 31/47 FG (65.9%) in the 2 games and the Lakers as a team had a 50.6% and 48.8% FG. It doesn't matter how much Love adds in offense, the obvious problem is on defense, the Lakers are the worst matchup for the Wolves.

You can't leave your best player on the bench (Love), but you can sacrifice Pekovic minutes playing with Darko on Bynum.

Well lesbianest for a second, a lot of teams struggle against the height of the Lakers. Two 7 footers in the front court is hard to defend and even if you defend them well, Pau is a great passer and can operate mid-range well...plus they have the best scorer in the league if they have good D on them.

The reason we lost is because we couldn't get a bucket to save our lives/adjust to their D and having the #5 scorer in the league back on your team helps.
