Nash

Post#1 » by helgey7212 » Sun Mar 11, 2012 6:31 am

Do we have the assets to get Steve Nash without sacrificing too much for our future or should we just stick with the PGs we have?

I think Nash would be a huge help for us to make the playoffs but is it worth it trying to go for it this year?

We have the assets to get him sure but it would be a terrible move. It's not like we HAVE to make the playoffs this year. There is no point throwing our assets away just to "rent" Nash so we can make the playoffs.

I Agree. Even if Nash could bring us to the playoffs, which I think he could, we won't be TRUE contenders against the top teams. So why lose good assets for a Nash rental? That been said, I'm pretty sure we can make the playoffs with what we have, it'll be difficult, but is totally possible. What just happened with Ricky is hard to swallow, but we shouldn't make moves out of despair. Off-course, that if a good trade comes, we should consider it, but having in mind how good it is for us long term and not just for reaching the playoffs this year.

Why wouldn't Nash extend 2 seasons with Wolves if the Wolves are a legit playoff team.??

After this year Nash isn't looking for a legit playoff team, he'll be looking for legit Championship team - so he can get his ring already. If Rubio is expected to return next year, why would you want Nash in the team? To play backup pg? Or Ricky play backup pg and he start?

if I had the 2, I'd start them both. Nash is like Ridnour on steroids. If Rube/Luke get get us an 8seed, imagine a guy who is bigger, can shoot better, doesn't make any of the stupid TO's and can actually pass the ball to open guys.

Is not that Nash isn't an upgrade. Sure he is, a big one. But if we make a move for Nash and trade good assets for him, who else are going to get to become a Camionship contender? More-so, how are we going to get them? Again, he will be looking for a ring.

No need to push the panic button. We don't need Steve Nash. If we miss the playoffs this year, so be it. We don't need to move assets for a 30 game rental.

Sorry to burst your bubble, but the Suns are not trading Nash away. It's been said multiple times Nash wants to stay, so championships mean little to him.

I don't think it's quite fair to say the championship means little to him, but it doesn't seem that he'll be traded anyway. He's just too polite and Canadian to ask to be traded.

I am absolutely for acquiring Nash.

Having Nash would almost guarantee making the Playoffs, which is HUGE for our young team. I know it sucks that Ricky is out, but Love, Pek, DWill and everyone else would really benefit from the experience.

And Ricky could use the time to learn from one of the greatest PGs and shooters of our time - even if he is out of action. Simply speaking to him, watching him, possibly doing the same (offseason) workouts.

Before the season we said we wouldn't want Ricky to come off the bench - well, now he won't have to.

Ultimately, it comes down to the asking price, but for an unextended Nash, I would give anyone not named Love, Ricky, Pek, DWill, Lee and possibly Wes. Wether or not the Suns would accept and Nash would want to move for 30 games if a different question entirely.

How about MEM, UTA, Randolph (crowd pleaser), Miller (cap relief), Tolliver (likeable backup) and Beasley (serviceable SF) for Nash and Warrick (bad contract)? If Suns do not like any of the players, they will all be gone next season and they get 2 picks to start rebuilding.

This season:
Nash / Ridnour / JJ
Webster / Lee
Wes / Dwill
Love / Dwill / Warrick
Pek / Darko

Next season:
Rubio / Ridnour
FA* / Lee / JJ
Dwill / Wes
Love / Dwill / Warrick
Pek / Darko

*Nash expiring and Webster buyout could yield a nice FA signing

I thought of this prior to Rubio getting injured.

Adelman showed us that Rubio/Ridnour could work in the backcourt. Rubio/Nash would have been insanely fun.
