What if the Wolves brought back KG?

Would KG be interested in retiring as a Wolf? We certainly have salary space to bring him back and with the way he has been playing since the All-star break it would be hard to imagine the Wolves not making the playoff with him at center. This would free the Wolves up to concentrate on off-guard and small forward with the draft and their mid-level. Maybe I'm nostalgic but it would be great to see KG back in number 21 and the Wolves running out three All-star caliber players for the first time since 2004.

PG: Rubio, Ridnaur
SG: Ridnaur, Webster, Johnson, Draft choice or FA
SF: Williams, Johnson, draft choice or FA
PF: Love, KG, Pekovic
C: KG, Pekovic

They could amnesty Milicic to free cap space and with saving minutes on KG keep plenty of quality minutes to continue Pekovic's development. I'm not sure who would be available to sign as a SG but you would think there would be someone interested in playing with a pass first PG and two excellent passing big men like Love and KG. Sure looks to me like a team capable of breaking into the top six of the Western Conference next year.

I'd love to see KG come full circle.

I would love to see KG come back, but I don't think he's interested.

Isnt that similar to every potential trade scenario or potential free agent signing? I don't understand your problem here.

we're already focusing sf / sg with our off seasn acquisitions.

Also I am afraid his ego might not mesh the rest. It wouldn't be 'his' team anymore. Imagine how his legacy would suffer if he came back and turned out to be a lockerroom cancer. I prefer KG+Wolves to be a pleasant memory from the past.

I can't imagine him being a cancer. If he came back here, he would know his role. I can see some his antics alienating the fan base.

I´d really like it. Completing the interior 3 men rotation makes the difference to me. Similar to the Pau´s scenarios. He´s got that veteran wining culture that this team needs. Having that superiority inside over any other team in the league provides wins with almost no effort during RS. It also allows you to avoid injuries and get to the POs fresh (not like Gasol/Bynum this year that look exhausted to me).

It´s true that SG and SF need to be filled but the wolves have more than enough assets to fill those positions with decent players (not stars) (i.e. the expirings, 18th and Williams...)

The real power of that team is its second unit:

Barea (or Ridnour)
Shved? (or Lee)
W.Jhonson
Garnet
Pekovic (or Love)

It would be pretty cool....but he's turned into even more of an **** now that he's left. I'd rather roll with Pek/Love and try to find a cheaper backup 4/5 while upgrading the wings.

KG made it pretty clear that he would not come back the last time that Boston was here.

During the second quarter, Garnett was taking the ball out of bounds and a fan hollered: "Hey Kevin, please come back next year!"

Garnett simply muttered: "No way."

It wouldn't surprise me if KG goes into the HOF as a Celtic. He wants nothing to do with the Timberwolves franchise.

I don't think you go into the HOF with a specific organization. But he also did say "I've got nothing positive to say about that organization" last time he was here.

Oh yeah, that's with baseball, football, hockey?

If they did do that for the NBA, he would do it. I wonder if he would even want his 21 retired here. I would hope so for the fans, but, you never know with that guy.

When Barkley was inducted into the HOF, his speech was pretty much about thanking the people who made it possible to bring him to Phoenix to give him the opportunity win, though they fell short. Pretty much with Barkley and the Sixers, it's about his former teammates (Dr. J, Moses Malone, Mo Cheeks, etc.) He did give the Sixers props for become the pro he became. I could just see KG talking about being a Celtic for his entire speech. It's whatever though.

This.

It's the Basketball Hall of Fame, not the NBA Hall of Fame. You make it into the HOF on your collective contribution to the sport of basketball, not just the NBA.

i wish, but he's been great in the playoffs and he'll be back w/ Boston; I'll stake my sterling reputation on it

I think they only do it baseball, and I'm not sure the player gets to choose.

Sounds like you've got a little bit of a Minnesota inferiority complex going here. I think there's no doubt KG would come back to get his jersey retired, he's always showed appreciation to the Minnesota fans. He just doesn't like the organization.

As others said, he's not coming back here. Unless, of course, ownership and management changed but that's a) not gonna happen and b) I'd rather keep the FO the way it is because I fear ownership change could include moving the Wolves somewhere else. That might be fearful thinking, though. It just wouldn't be worth signing KG. Or any other player.

I'm quite shocked, too.
