#18

What do we do with our draft pick? Do we use it in as a package in a bigger trade, do we trade it straight up for a player? Or do we keep it and draft a new talent? What players in the draft would you need to be available for us to keep our pick?

Not a lot of players I want in the draft that would be available. Can't see Rivers dropping that far, maybe T. Ross? Moe Harkless looks like a decent prospect. Iggy is the guy most of us would trade for, but do we include 18 if the trade involves D-Charge? Wouldn't mind just trading it straight up either, for someone like Beaubois.

What do you want us to do with #18?

I would like it to be traded, preferably in a bigger package for an impact player.

None of the prospects than could be available at #18 means anything to me, I just can't see us picking a great player in that position.

And we need players that can contribute right now, not more prospects that need time to develop, for that reason I'm leaning towards a trade and I hope they bring in a competent wing player using that pick and maybe some other assets that we have.

I think it could be used as the primary piece for someone like Kevin Martin. If not, trade down, hopefully someone with a late 1st and early/mid 2nd would package them for 18 to get a guy they like.

I think we should trade the pick. This team has too many holes on it right now. We need immediate help, not a shot in the dark prospect at #18.

I hope we can keep it and still make trades and signing to solidify our wings. These mid first round picks can still turn into solid players. Look at teams like SA, who just finds guys like Leonard, or teams like Indy who have a bunch of mid first draftees. So unless we can get a relatively young prospect in return, or it's needed to get a starter then I would keep it.

In drafts that weren't nearly as deep as this one is supposed to be, the 18th would've got you Brooks and Thorton. Understand what you're saying, but we could get immediate help with 18.

For me I'm fine if we use it or trade it. No predilection either way as long as we're smart about it.

Kahn should have a list of 3 guys he really liked when he scouted them. No BPAs. Just players that he saw workout and liked, doesn't matter if it was Beal/Lamb/Rivers. (Not saying we need these guys, it's just an example) If any of those 3 are there, you take them, if not..DO NOT GO BPA. Trade the pick for some value or package the pick with a contract to clear up cap space to throw at Gordon.

I realize that the Wolves were playing playoff contending basketball last year while Rubio was still healthy, but I just don't think we're one player away from being a perennial high-end winner. I want to see us pursue a trade for help at the 2, 3, or backup 5 - but I want to use the pick to help add some affordable depth.

This draft has its best value in the middle of the round and I think we could add a contributing player to our team with a nominal impact on our cap position. This draft is deep in wings, so I say keep the pick and use everything else we have to fill our need for a veteran.

absolutely 100% agree...great points - very underrated is having 4 years of low salary production. i do really hope we keep the pick this year as well and we can use memphis pick or our own next years pick be it protected or not depending on the player. a 2013 minnesota pick, 2013 memphis pick, derrick williams and the effectively expirings of martell and b-rad is quite a lot of ammo to go to war with this off season, i like the value and the expected players available at 18.

Who knows how these guys will develop, but I can't help look at players like Harkless, Miller, Ross, Waiters and Leonard and think we certainly have room for an affordable guy with upside. Everyone on the planet knows we need some stability on the court, but that doesn't mean we should give up on trying to find a sleeper.

I keep hearing about teams trying to trade out of the 1st this year - I would have no issues buying another pick in the middle of this draft if we could use future 2nds, cash, or overseas options as bait. Coming out of this draft with a combination of Leonard and Miller or Miller/Harkless and Ross would absolutely thrill me.

I'm not opposed to moving it, but I'd rather they drafted a guy who can come in with a clearly defined role. Something like Leonard to back up Pek. Otherwise it'll be just one more guy trying to figure things out and that's not what the team needs.

#18 + Derrick Williams for the best offer you can get.

And then bring Bjelica over from Europe.

Since Adelman apparently has a history of not playing rookies (Rubio being the apparent exception) it's probably the best to trade the pick.

I'd want that to happen even if we hadn't Adelman. We desperately need more veteran players.

we know there is a diamond in the 2012 rough. This franchise needs to have the capability of picking a SG or SF here that can play - that simple. Reasonable salary here too. Trading the pick when we need several positions tells me we lack confidence in judging talent, and if thats the case, our trade capability will likely fails as well. The only way you trade #18 is if you are able to move in a package for a starter. period. All else is bs excuses.

What about Royce White? Aside from the numerous Minnesota connections already. One draft board only could say he had some emotional issues as a draw back. At #18 can the wolves go wrong with someone who led his team in many major stat categories? Not many big men lead their team in assists, which means he's a team player.

Meh. His post game will suffer against taller PFs in the NBA and he has no jump shot at all. His court vision is an excellent asset but he's a few years away from being a real contributor.

I'm probably in the minority, but I'm not going to rule him out.

Royce White is like Lebron without the freakish athleticism but with anxiety issues. So he's basically the grown son of Delonte West and Gloria James.

I'm not sure why Minny would use their #18 pick on a 6'8" PF who probably has a better chance of dropping into the 2nd round when they have three more important positions of need.

Because he's an awesome talent. On talent alone he's top 10, maybe top 5 in this draft. That doesn't mean we should take him, but I get why people would consider it.
