since the blazers can match anything do you think they'll be willing to match 45$ mill? I Think they will personally.... :(...thoughts?

Offered too much, IMO.

Its a win-win for us.

We either get our guy or a rival teams flexibility is hindered with a 12mil per year SF.

I think the 45-50m range is what you have to offer to have a legitimate shot at him. I'm still pretty sure the Blazers will match up to 50, but that's as high as I'd go.

at the end of the day we have to sign (and likely overpay) SOMEONE to move forwards. I don't know if Batum is the right guy, but It'd be exciting to have 2 solid young wing guys finally, and I don't see who we could use our cap space on other than him.

I'll Will be happy if POR don't match because MIN with Rubio at Pg is a great team to watch
And also with Adelman this team could go far in the future

If POR is intelligent they will match
If POR is idiot they won't match
IMHO

Batum very well could be the difference between a playoff spot and the lottery. Probably overpaid, but it's not like Dwight Howard is trying to force his way here.

Really nice job so far since the draft. I love this offer for Batum, it's a little much but that's what you have to do when chasing RFAs. He's a 23-year old vet who is extremely long, good defender, 6'8" and hit 3s at just below 40% last year. IMO a perfect fit. If Portland matches they will have paid more than they would've liked to and it limits them down the road.

I hope so. Batum is one of my favorite players and an ideal fit with our core. Wonder if portland would even be open to a s&t with luke and the memphis 1st for batum? Possibly adding in ellington too?

Oh, that's great news to read that we're aggressively going after Batum.

Anyone got a link, though? Haven't seen anything yet.

A deal like this for Batum could also be easier to use in trade if we want to upgrade at the three again.

It's in the free agency thread. Few tweets from beat writers, and a couple of sites.

Somewhere along the lines of 45-50m for 4 years is what we are going to offer it sounds like.

Way too much money for this type of player.

the feeling seems to be Blazers will match. I think this deal is reasonable for Batum and that's why Blazers will match...although it was also reported they offered Hibbert a max deal does this change things?

I absolutely hate it and pray Portland matches. I'd rather throw 25 mil over 4years at Lee if I want a guy who can defend and shoot open 3s and Lee can dribble better than Batum. Bottom line: spread-the-floor shooters shouldn't make 10+ per year.
