Miller traded to Hornets

The Timberwolves announced the team has waived guard Martell Webster. The Timberwolves also today announced the team has traded center Brad Miller and two future second round draft picks (Brooklyn's 2013 second round selection and Minnesota's second round draft choice in 2016) to the New Orleans Hornets in exchange for a future conditional second round pick.

Wonder what the conditions are for the New Orleans pick. That could be pretty good as far as 2nds go as New Orleans is probably still one of the worst teams in the league.

Not sure why we are giving up even crappy picks for getting rid of a salary we could just wipe off the books regardless.

it does save us 850k which is pretty important with all the guys and salaries we have promises too.

Yep, and both those picks are crappy, the one we are getting back will be nicer the either of them.

It's conditional. I'm sure it won't be.

Not so much...we get a cap hold as well...of 4xx.000 right? so it saves us only 400.000...

i think it's a raw 850k as if we had waived him we would have been on the hook for his 850k and we still would have been charged a cap hold i believe.

but we can spend all of that money so the cap-hold effectively disappears once we use that $.

Does this mean Iggy is off the tables? With Darko amnestied and Webster waived and Miller traded, do we have enough contracts to send out to Philly? We do have to send out nearly $15m of contracts, right? Did the Miller trade generate a $5m TE?

So we probably have the space now to finally send the Batum offer to NY now and once Portland matches, can we ship out enough players for Iggy? Who has the exact numbers?

I would have assumed some / all of the above mentioned would be involved in a trade for salary relief for Philly...

We have a cap hold anyways, so it doesn't really matter...

We can send Wes, Wayne and either JJ or Luke and get Iggy. If they wanted them, we only need to send $9.8 million, or more, in salaries to Philly.

Well we could trade: Johnson+Ridnour(or Barea)+Ellington+Lee for Iguodala. Maybe add in the Memphis 1st.

Rubio/Barea/Shved
Iguodala/Roy/Shved
Williams/Iguodala/Budinger
Love/Williams
Pekovic/Stiemsma?

I could see it.

It's easy enough, not sure if Kahn is thinking that though... I think C. Lee, and not Iggy may be his next target. I'd like to see Iggy here :)

Hmm... Okay, so we can make the numbers work, but PHI must value the players for their talent (lol) and not their contracts. They had Iggy's $15m coming off in 2014. Now they'll have some even longer commitments to Barea and Lee (or whomever they end up taking).

Can't help feeling Kahn overdid himself to get the Batum sheet signed and his bluff will now cost us Iggy. Best case now would be signing Lee or Mayo, but that must most likely mean Budinger is our most suited SF on the roster :( I hope I am wrong...

Minnesota's 2016 2nd rounder is crappy?

All 2nd rounders are crappy, where have you been? this isn't the NFL.

All of them, even the one we are probably never getting back :)

Yes. Rubio and Love will be in their primes by then.

I guess that's something NY and LA fans can be happy about.

Everything we've done with second round picks.

Doug West
Gary Leonard
Marlon Maxey
Chris Smith
Tim Burroughs
Sherron Mills
Howard Eisley
Mark Davis
Jerome Allen
Gordon Malone
Andrae Patterson
Louis Bullock
Igor Rakočević
Loren Woods
Marcus Taylor
Rick Rickert
Blake Stepp
Bracey Wright
Craig Smith
Bobby Jones
Loukas Mavrokefalidis
Chris Richard
Mario Chalmers
Nick Calathes
Henk Norel

There is one decent player and a couple okay role players on that list, the rest were pointless and didn't contribute to the Wolves. Hence my theory that second round picks are crappy. ;)
