Ok so if the Batum deal fails to go through can we still trade for Iggy?

My thoughts were D Will, Ridnour and Johnson for Iggy. (Works in the trade checker)
Trade Ellington for Cunningham
Sign Roy, Schved, Hill and Steimsma

C Pekovic, Steimsma
PF Love, Hill, Cunningham
SF Iggy, Buddinger, Hummel
SG Roy, Schved, M Lee
PG Rubio, Barea

With Iggy and Buddinger also sharing time at SG and Schved and M Lee sharing time at PG I think we would have a good lineup. I would rather see the Wolves spend money on Hill then Courtney Lee. Also doyou think Phily would give up a pick to take Iggy's contract off there hands if we are giving them young talent?

If we weren't willing to trade Williams for Batum (as stated from our end) then we probably aren't going to trade him for Iggy either. I also don't think Philly is willing to give us a pick to dump their best player.

I believe Doogie when he says Iggy isn't going to happen.

Yeah, Zgoda and Doogie have both been adamant enough that Iggy is a last resort at best to think the Wolves have much interest. It's too bad because I think he'd be a nice get, but on the bright side the wings were so bad last year that Budinger/Roy/Shved and one of Lee/Brewer/Rush would represent a shot at a pretty significant upgrade even if Williams hasn't improved at all.

Apparently the Wolves brass think Iguodala is too highly compensated for what he brings and definitely not worth giving up Derrick Williams for. He'd be a nice fit but not at the expense of the trade posted above (though I'd love to throw Wes somewhere).

Trading Wes, Williams and JJ (or Luke) for Iggy is certainly a decent idea, and it's possible, but unless they have a smokescreen up trying to bring down Iggy's value (no picks), unlikely.

It would make sense though, we are going to have a hell of a glut of players, moving 3 for 1 helps.

Wes serves no purpose with Budinger and Williams at Small forward, Roy can play there as well. It looks like Rubio may only miss 15 to 20 games, and since Shved seems to be coming on board, we don't need Luke and JJ, though one could be moved in January somewhere quite easily I expect. If we have Iggy at SF, and we grab Cunningham and HIll, there are no minutes to develop Williams.

This is severely flawed logic. The brass has not discovered the real value of defense yet ... that's the issue. Look what an impact Rubio had defensively - it sure as heck was not coaching ... gotta have the players!! Adelman has to come clean on his historic offensive bias when it comes to players ... he is no defensive genius by any stretch. That line about "we did our homework on Iggy" crap is what it is ... a line of crap. Iggy would have 10x more impact than DW or Wes. The $$ are an excuse ... save now pay later is the reality of it.

• Look for the Wolves to get unrestricted free agent forward Jordan Hill unless the Lakers swoop in. It's down to those two teams. Hill had a lengthy discussion when in town with Kahn about his legal troubles. The Wolves feel comfortable signing him right now.

• If Hill does go back to Los Angeles, the Wolves could turn to free agent forward Carl Landry. They've talked to his representative. Landry played for Wolves coach Rick Adelman in Houston.

• The Wolves also continue to maintain dialogue with Anthony Randolph's agent.

• The Wolves expect to get restricted free agent center Greg Stiemsma. Boston is over the cap, so the Wolves feel like they will be able to structure the contract in a fashion such that Celtics general manager Danny Ainge won't be able to match.

• As for getting a wing, the Wolves will sign free agent Courtney Lee if the price is right. But they won't wait long after Thursday morning. If his price is too high, they will move quickly to sign free agent Ronnie Brewer. If Lee waits too long, he won't be a Timberwolf. O.J. • The Wolves' decision-making brass of Kahn, Adelman and Taylor will have another personnel meeting in Las Vegas on Wednesday. The NBA Summer League has Kahn and Adelman there, while Taylor will be there for a Board of Governors league meeting.

Actually, I think that's part of why I think he's attainable.
-Starts the year injured.
-Rose is out all year, so no chance of contending
-Chicago wants to dump salary, and wouldn't mind getting some young talent to develop and a pick
-Our pieces fit will with their needs (backup young wing, picks, PG that can stop-gap start and go to backup PG when Rose is healthy.)

D-League:

Deng and Rubio start the year injured this year, but that's a very solid team for a few years.

So, here's the money side (for those who care).

Under the Lux, we can take back 150% up to $5 mil of what we trade away.
By making it a 3 team trade, even though it's just 1 player to Memphis for 1 player on Minnesota
Wolves send out Barea, Johnson, and Ellington as 1 "outgoing" salary of $10,862,102
We get back Deng and Cunningham for $15,455,000

Chicago gets a very nice $5 mil TPE, a couple picks, a 1 year flier on Johnson with a team option, and a good stop-gap/backup PG while Rose is out injured for a year.

Next year they trade the TPE for whoever, and get Batum for 3 1st round picks, Barea, and salary filler

FTR I like Iggy just fine, I just think Deng is more attainable because Chicago is in tank-n-save mode with Rose out.

Yep - I know ... i realize he's not a savior, but he'd be a pretty solid addition in my book and am really surprised we have not pursued knowing Batum is likely off the plate

Ridnour+Johnson+M.Lee+Memphis 1st for Deng?! Bulls cut some immediate salary. Wolves can afford to wait for Deng to heal because none of those 3 (save Ridnour) were likely to see major time & Shved can split PG duty with Barea until Rubio is 100%.

Must say as a sixer's fan this is the best news I've read recently, thanks!

For your team sake I hope CHI is looking to give Deng away, if he's your next option. The Deng package listed a bit above this is pretty bad value for Deng, but maybe they are fine with tanking for a year with Rose out.
