what is the plan now? we have a pretty good amount of cap space(i dont know how much, around 14mill im guessing?)

ifhow would you feel about signing Matt Barnes? i know hes not the best option as far as talent goes but i think we need a sort of tough guy on the team, guys who arent afraid to stand up for themselves and teammates *cough* WES JOHNSON *cough*, he also fills a need which is a SG/SF that plays defense and is capable of knocking down open jumpers *cough* WES JOHNSON *cough*.
i'm thinking Matt Barnes wouldnt cost that much 2-3mill??

and yes, lets sign Greg Stiemsma. he is definitely the best defending big man left on the market, he could help us a lot with his presence down low off the bench. Stiemsma costs 1.95mill(i believe thats what i read).

then ofcourse sign Brandon Roy(5mill).

which brings us to around 10 mill(if im correct)

we probly have enough to bring back Anthony Tolliver(depending on if we pull the trigger on this Ellington/Cunningham swap) for 2mill.

then sign Shved?

other thoughts, do we pick anyone up from summer league? Coby Karl has been shooting lights out, Robbie Hummel ofcourse could be on the team next season, Paulo Prestes(maybe next year)

I like Birdman far more than Steamer (especially in limited minutes), but it looks like there is a local factor in play with Greg (he's from around Madison).

I'd be wary of Barnes, dude completely imploded in the playoffs this year (his PER went from 15.5 to 4.2).

Wilson Chandler is a piece that could get signed. He is in denver making 7.4 million and is 2nd string small forward. We could easily trade for him since he really wouldn't get much playing time over gallo and afflalo. I imagine denver is probably going to move him and we could pick him up for cheap. Something like Wesley Johnson + Minnesota or Memphis pick

we have enough perimeter players. we're better off letting derrick get major minutes at sf than going after a mediocre sf. if we go get one it needs to be someone of iguodala caliber or better

Chandler just had hip surgery, after seeing what it did to Flynn, no way would I sign him.

How about we trade Love to cover all our holes and not worry about The Big Crybaby's demands?

I don't think Melo forced his way out from Denver because of the (perceived) lack of quality players around him. He wanted to play in a much bigger market. Hence the rumors of him going to New Jersey which would have had to gut their team to get Melo.

NY is worse than Denver.

Even though we are in Minnesota, I haven't exactly seen his BRAND get any bigger in NY over Denver.

His popularity probably went down.

He is thought of more now as a worse player than he did when he was in Denver.


Grass isn't always greener K-Love. And K-Love, a guy that can't create his own shot all that well should try to stick with Rubio as long as he possibly can.

At the same time. I love that he is pushing the front office, kick em in the ass and get this thing into a contender.

A mediocre SF would be an improvement over Williams at SF.

It's not easy building a championship roster and trading Love isn't going to make it easier. Unless your advocating rebuilding again I don't see where you're going with this. Love just signed a contract, there's no reason to get antsy.

First, you start out by contradicting yourself by saying he's a piece that could be signed then stating he's making $7.4M in Denver. Then you say he wouldn't get playing time over Gallo and Afflalo, but Gallo can play both SF and PF and Afflalo is a SG, so there's really no issue there. Then you say that you imagine Denver is probably going to move him and we could pick him up for cheap. What on earth makes you think that??? If they weren't high on him, they could have easily signed him to a short-term deal after returning from China, but they intentially signed him to a fair longer-term deal. Then you top it off by saying Wes + a pick could get it done. NOBODY WANTS WES JOHNSON! I'd be very surprised if he doesn't have negative trade value at this point.

In conclusion... none of what you said was accurate and we're not getting Wilson Chandler from a division opponent for scraps.

They have faried and harrington. I can't see chandler getting more than 24 minutes with the emergence of faried on this team. To play gallinari out of position. And they traded nene after hiring him to a long term contract for javale mcgee and scraps. I doubt they wouldn't mind getting a 20 pick and a scrub contract in return if they did it with nene

Now that we whiffed on Batum and seemingly have no interest in a trade for a true impact wing player, we might as well just roll with giving Williams big minutes at the 3, hope Roy's knees hold up, and pray that Shved can bring it in this league.

All risky propositions, but that's the position Kahn has put us in with his piss poor drafting. The alternative is to sign more known mediocrities to Kahntracts. Might as well just sign a backup big and fill out the end of the bench with minimum salary guys. At least they'd have money to resign Pek next year.

Why the FO has had no interest in an Iggy trade befuddles me, but it is what it is at this point. If one of our guys doesn't step up to become a stud, we will probably not be more than 1st round cannon fodder and Love will be gone in 2 to 3 years.

I don't think Phili is looking for a quick out on Iggy. I don't know that I'd be that anxious to trade him if I were Phili. The price would probably have to be exorbitant.
