Re: NCAA Basketball Thread / 2013 Draft Targets
I'm afraid to follow the draft this year. I don't want to get my hopes up for anybody when we're just going to eventually trade the pick for an established player.

If we're going to spend a top 10 pick on the guy, we probably need to expect at least 12-14 ppg. Perimeter players drafted mainly because of their defense haven't turned out great either.
If you don't believe that the massive jump this year in his shooting is real then he really doesn't fit what we need for the team.
I'm not convinced that the massive jump in his shooting is real.
The only person in this draft who will be worth the time and effort of his selection to fulfill the Wolves needs is Nerlens Noel. They need to trade the pick if he isn't available.

I'm not sure we're going to want to take back the contract of a veteran who would be worth the pick.

Its a big jump and he won't be hitting above 50% from 3 in the NBA but I don't think he's going to revert back to shooting below 30% again. He's also averaging almost a rebound and steal more than last year. Players improve, he said he put work into his offensive game last offseason.
More important than his actual % is the fact that he has shown the ability to hit 3s consistently.

It could be a player on a rookie contract still, or the pick could be combined with Williams and Ridnour/Barea. It's not what I'd do, but I think it's inevitable knowing Rubio and Love are frustrated and Adelman might only have a year or two left.

The problem is that he hasn't taken close to enough 3's for us to have any idea whether he can hit them consistently.Think about OJ Mayo's start to the season he shot 50%+ from 3 over a much larger number of attempts and since then has shot it in the mid 30's.

Depends on what kind of talent we can bring in this summer. If at best kahn is bringing in courtney lee or something like that at sg, then we really need to look at the draft.
Shabazz, Mcelmore, Noel, and Austin are all cant miss for us if we get a top 5 pick. They would make us better right off the bat. All of them fit with our team composition and could give us a potential star down the road.
Honestly shabazz might be best. But you can argue with Mcelmore or Noel. Shabazz would give us someone who can play the 2 or 3. Who is a good spot up shooter. And has alot of toughness. He has a desire for the ball and alot of fire when he plays, which is something we need.
Basically if we get a top 4 pick i would be mad if we didnt keep it. Depending on if we could get someone of equal or higher value for the pick. Other than afflalo im not sure who i would give the pick for.

Anyone surprised that a team coached by Fred Hoiberg is good at shooting threes?

I am abit scared of Olapido.
I think he is a mid first round talent that will taken too high.
I would rather take Carter-Williams and try to convert him to shooting guard.

that is an extreme example...
I don't get all the negativity around Oladipo. He's a stud defensively who has done very well offensively. He has the reputation of a chuch-going kid who has an extreme work-ethic. If you don't want the kid thanks, I'll take him.

Anybody else like the Gonzaga center?? Sort of reminds me of Gortat.

Muhammad: 18.2 ppg on 13.9 FGA & 5.7 FTA (.550 TS%)
McLemore: 15.9 ppg on 10.8 FGA & 3.9 FTA (.630 TS%)
Oladipo: 14 ppg ppg on 8.1 FGA & 3.7 FTA (.701 TS%)
Muhammad scores 4 more points on 6 more shots. McLemore scores 2 more points on 2.7 more shots.
I'd rather have an efficient scorer than a volume scorer.

Oladipo is awesome. I'm not sure what's not to like. Only concern is if he's more like 6-2 or 6-3, then i can't see him being a top 10 pick. At 6-5? Definitely.

Can we for once draft someone that makes sense or makes us happy on the board? For god's sake please draft Oladipo

I'm fine with oladipo if he is in the NBA what he is in college but like I mentioned earlier he's a junior that just came out of nowhere. That's a little concerning.

I'm not 100% sure on the science behind this, but I think the catch 22 on Oladipo is this: if Kahn likes him enough to draft him, then he probably sucks, but if he doesn't like him and passes on him, he's probably an 8 time all star. Either way we get jack ****.
