Wolves' All-Time Player Power Rankings - Point Guards
All-Time Roster
As we near Training Camp for the 2012-13 season, let's look back at the best players to wear a Timberwolves jersey by position. Please rank your top 5 in its entirety, as i plan to talley the results in the future, and will assign point values to where each player is ranked. Any incomplete rankings will not be included in the results.
1. 5 points
2. 4 points
3. 3 points
4. 2 points
5. 1 point
How would you rank the point guards? The determining criteria is up to you, as well as how you classify certain individuals.

1. Stephon Marbury
2. Sam Cassell
3. Terrell Brandon
4. Ricky Rubio
5. Pooh Richardson
That last spot is a tough call between Pooh/Michael Williams/Terry Porter/Troy Hudson. Huddy may have had the biggest/best stretch of any of them, but was the worst when at his worst. TP never had a big minute role, but his presence was enormous. Michael Williams made a lot of free throws that one time. Rubio claims this easy with a couple of healthy seasons, but the combination of excitement/winning/time.

1. Marbury
2. Brandon
3. Cassel
4. Rubio
5. Troy Hudson
I couldn't watch Marbury in a Wolves jersey but I saw him play many times on other teams. Plus, I've read my fair share of stories about the chemistry of him and KG early on.
Brandon would have been my #1 if he hadn't blown his knees.
Cassel was maybe the perfect point guard for KG. If he only had learned to shut up every now and then.
Rubio will, assuming he'll stay healthy, eventually be #1. Half a season doesn't really count, though.
Well... it's sad that I had to include Hudson but that 2002/03 season and the playoff series against the Lakers got stuck in my mind as one of the earliest Wolves memories. He was beasting against the Lakers.

Cassell
The best combination in terms of leadership and proven player performance
Game Changers
Marbury ... was the real deal until he didnt get his deal - then we had to deal him cause we could not deal with him ... that was the deal.
Rubio ... he may not be the scorer some feel is needed at PG, but he plays defense better than any of these other by a land-slide and will be a solid leader.
Billups ... good player here, but we made the mistake of moving him right as he was hitting his prime and I will never forget it - found a home in Detroit and got it done.
Ole stop-n-pop Brandon was possibly the worst defender of all time at the PG position. Great mid-range and adequate leader, but was never a real gamer.
Thud ... lets get F'ing real ....

1. Stephon Marbury - Oh, what might have been....
2. Sam Cassell - Led us to our most incredible season, only time we've advanced and he was the main piece of that. Had he not gotten hurt....
3. Terrell Brandon - Solid, consistent. Bad ankles tho.
4. Chauncey Billups - TB's bad ankles make the fact that we let him go just sucks a whole lot.
5. Ricky Rubio - He'll be climbing up this list very quickly, needless to say.

2. Cassell (I guess, though not much PT in Minny)
3. Porter (why not)
4. Pooh (I just can't put Hudson on this list)
5. Rubio (hopefully will be at least #2 by season's end but just hasn't played enough yet)

1. Marbury (Guy was a phenom while here. Probably was the true number 1 guy even though KG got the money.)
2. Cassell (Led us the deepest we ever had been. Was a leader on the floor. Closer)
3. Brandon (Great body of work, hampered by injuries)
4. Pooh
5. Rubio (In his one season had a huge impact and has become media darling)

1. Sam Cassell. One excellent season is enough. Barely. Besides, we got Jaric for him... yeah!
2. Marbury. I hate the leeches in his family more than him. Oh, what could have been. Perfect match.
3. Brandon. Nice player. Nice guy. But soft. Perfect second fiddle for perennial 1st round loser.
4. Jerome Richardson. If you looked only at his stats 22 years later... not too bad.
5. Micheal Williams. He made a lot of free throws in a row. That's worth something, right?

Re: Wolves' All-Time Player Power Rankings - Point Guards
1. Marbury - Was the PG on the team that gave the franchise relevance.
2. Brandon - Had 2.5 years where he was very good. Body just broke down his last year.
3. Cassell - Was basically a one-year wonder, but that one year was really good.
4. Richardson - Plagued by a poor supporting cast, but put up stats comparable to the franchise's best.
5. Rubio - More than his on-court performance is the revitalization he brought a dwindling fan base.
2.5 years of high-level impact was the longest any Wolves' point guard has delivered (Marbury, Brandon, Richardson)

He's not even the worst defensive player on your list.
