Spacing Concerns

With Love out, we have no other bigs who can be relied to hit an outside shot. I love AK47, Cunningham, Stiemsma and Amundson for their toughness and versatility but we need an additional big to stretch the floor ideally.

Just curious if people think this is an issue or something we can just wait out. Personally, I think Pek is at his best with a stretch four like Love. Any FA's available to fill this? Thoughts?

Williams is a stretch 4. Playing crappy or not that is what he is.

Kirilenko has shot the 3 ball better than I expected so far. I don't think it's really an issue. I like the bigs to stay down low anyway, unless they're as good of a shooter as Love is.

Okur would be the right answer if you want a big shooting from outside. but i don't think Pek necessarily needs space to be efficient. He's one of the three strongest centers in the nba right now, he has solid post moves and is a good offensive rebounder. He just needs to get used to the situation that he's the most importend player to guard for our opponents with love out. against toronto and sacramento you you could see, he was hardly capable of dealing with double teams. Against Brooklyn he already had some nice outlet passes. He's gonna be fine even without a space creating stretch four.

The spacing concerns that I have don't really apply for Pek but rather for our wingmen who need more space to drive. Then again, aside from JJ and Shved we don't really have that many slashers.

They haven't had any challenges getting open shots, it's just been a question of making them. AK, Roy, Shved and Budinger can all pass the ball really well and drive to the hoop reasonably well. This will maintain spacing well enough. As for Pek, it does seem that he isn't getting quite as good position under the basket so far this year, but I'm not too concerned with only 3 games played and KLove probably back in a couple weeks anyway.

I just think that not having a big who can hit the outside shot with regularity is something we need to have maximum efficiency offensively. While Cunningham, Stiemsma and Amundson are nice energy guys and active defenders/rebounders, I think having three of these type of defensive reserves is perhaps a bit illogical.

A trail four who can hit the open 3 could be lethal with Pek demanding attention on the block and high BBIQ guys like Shved, Roy and Kirilenko playing heavy minutes. Drawing an opposing defender out away from the rim not only gives Pek more room to operate but it gives our wings more room to drive and dish. Derrick Williams is not this guy, at least not until he starts to show some consistent range.

Just thought it was odd that a team with so many great playmakers has only one frontcourt player who is a threat to score from the outside if left alone. And yes I realize that guys like Ak47, DC etc can hit the midrange shot and even the 3P at times, but so too can Ron Artest. I'm talking about a pure shooter who can give a few fouls and help spacing. Steve Novak, Rashard Lewis etc. are good examples of the players I am talking about. I think outside shooting might be out biggest issue this year. thanks for the feedback guys
